~ Zero's speech to Dr. Weil and most famous quote. |
Zero is a major character of the Mega Man franchise, serving as the deuteragonist of the Mega Man X series and the main protagonist of the Mega Man Zero series. A high-ranking Maverick Hunter in the Mega Man X series, he would defeat various Mavericks to protect humanity, and would help X in growing stronger and defeating Mavericks. In the Mega Man Zero series, he is a freedom fighter who wishes to save the world from the various conflict the Elf Wars have caused, and stop oppressive rulers such as Copy X and Dr. Weil. He has a troubled past due to being created by Dr. Wily creating him for the sole purpose of defeating the original Mega Man, but a hundred years later, he was uncovered by Sigma (who later would get corrupted from fighting Zero), and taken to Dr. Cain, and as a result became a high ranking Maverick Hunter.
His Good Ranking[]
Debated Validations[]
- One could argue he basically is responsible for the Maverick Wars in the first place, as while he was under the Maverick Virus' control, Sigma had defeated him, causing himself to go Maverick and start the wars. However, he did not willingly get the virus, as Dr. Wily forcefully gave him it and turned him into a mindless killing machine, and Sigma ends up being the one to actually start the wars, and did not know Zero had the virus, so whether or not he is responsible for this is debatable.

What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]
- He is very lethal, to the point it is one of his defining characteristics. He uses violence as a first resort against all enemies, gets himself into conflicts that could have easily been avoided, such as with Colonel, and like Mega Man X.
- He frequently snaps back at Mavericks whenever they taunt him, showing he has issues controlling his temper, and although somewhat justified, comes off as being a bit of a jerk when doing so.
- He ends up being the reason the mood is darker compared to the original Mega Man series, due to corrupting Sigma in the first place (albeit unknowingly), making choices that frequently darken the mood, like many of the times he sacrifices himself and killing Iris (albeit unintentionally and with remorse), and his very serious nature, which greatly contrasts with the protagonists before him.
Trivia[]
- He is the only Mega Man X character to be Inconsistently Admirable, as well as the only Mega Man character in general to be Inconsistently Admirable.
- It is still debatable whether Zero really did die at the end of Zero 4, though this purportedly does not affect his ability to return as a Biometal in Mega Man ZX.
