Yuyuko Saigyouji is a major character from the Touhou Project franchise.
She is the ghost princess of Hakugyokurou, the netherworld of the "formerly-living", but was once a living human. Long ago, after her death from suicide, her body was used to place a seal on the Saigyou Ayakashi, a dangerous youkai cherry tree, to stop it from killing innocent humans.

What Makes Her Admirable?[]
- As a human, after her uncontrollable power of tempted many others into their death, she commited suicide to prevent her ability from killing others.
- Although she plays a villainous role in Perfect Cherry Blossom, stealing winter essence in Gensokyo to try to make the youkai tree Saigyou Ayakashi bloom, after knowing that by unsealing Saigyou Ayakashi would destroy her own ghost and unleash an unspeakable evil, she abandons the plan, returns the spring essence and makes peace with the heroines.
- In order to amend the problem she caused, she requests Yukari to use her power to repair the border between the Netherworld and Gensokyo, while she herself decides to protect Saigyou Ayakashi forever to stop it from killing more people.
- Upon learning that the moon had been replaced by a fake one, she partnered with Youmu Konpaku to head to the moon to discover why and find the real moon in Imperishable Night.
- In Immaterial and Missing Power, she is among one of the heroines who investigates strange mists appearng in Gensokyo and there are feasts happening every three days in Hakurei Shrine.
- In Scarlet Weather Rhapsody, after noticing the weather goes unnatural, she goes around Gensokyo to summon snow to make the summer cooler, while she secretly investigating the culprit behind the weather, being quickest character to identify the culprit as Tenshi Hinanawi when the incident was in the omen stage.
- In Ten Desires, she informs the playable characters about the location of the incident regarding the divine spirits.
What Makes Her Inconsistent?[]
- While she redeems herself from villainy after Perfect Cherry Blossom, she is still an Anti-Hero as she mostly only does whatever she wants and doesn't have much desire for justice, helping the heroines mostly for self interest.
- For example, while she partners with Youmu to investigate the fake moon in Imperishable Night, Yuyuko is more interested in having a feasting tour with a "dragon dish" as the crowning attraction.
- In Scarlet Weather Rhapsody she only goes out to enjoy the unnatural weather caused by the incident, and feels unsatisfied when the weather goes back to normal.
- As the princess of Netherworld, the souls who came from hell to the Netherworld are enslaved by her for eternity.
- While she genuinely cares about her servant Youmu, she has a side of Control Freak to her, disallowing her to go out and help investigating Incidents multiple times for no reason.
