What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]
- He is something of a jerk, being proud, stubborn, short-tempered and rude.
- He is bigoted towards Romulans. His refusal to do a transfusion for one of them resulted in the man's death.
- He's also Xenepobic towards Ferengi.
- Despite loving him he was a flawed father to Alexander, sending him away several times, making him feel unwanted and unloved.
- There are two episodes where he sided with an antagonist. While he realised the error of his ways both times it still shows he's far from incorruptible.
- In "The Drumhead" he defended Admiral Satie's authoritarian tactics and helped her implement them.
- In "Let He Who is Without Sin" he assisted the New Essentalist's movement in sabotaging Risa's weather control system.
- While well-intentioned erasing Kurn's memory can be seen as morally questionable as he did so without his consent.
