Woody Woodpecker is the titular main protagonist of the Woody Woodpecker franchise.
His Good Ranking[]
What Makes Him Admirable?[]
- His most admirable deeds often come from him defeating Buzz Buzzard, most notably Buzz as a Wild West outlaw who was implied to have killed 273 sheriffs (and explicitly shown on screen to have killed one more) and saving his town from him.
- He helped save Christmas from Buzz and Tweaky by trapping them in a sofa, and giving Knothead and Splinter the idea to do the same.
- This admirable deed is shared by Miss Meany and Wally Walrus, but they haven't done heroic deeds like he did.
- He cares for Knothead and Splinter.
- He saved a sentient hen from being killed and turned into meat by Miss Meany after she laid a million eggs, and as a result, saved the rest of the hens in her farm by warning them of what she planned to do with them.
- At the end of the same episode, he runs said farm and gives the hens a much better life without Ms. Meany.
- Overall, him defeating Buzz Buzzard many times and helping people as a result, like a beagle, a mouse, and more make him the most admirable character in the series, along with his heroic deed in "Chicken Woody" from The New Woody Woodpecker Show.
What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]
- His main characteristic, mischief is too much for him to be NPG. He causes lots of harm and destruction to tons of people, even if they didn't do anything wrong, most especially Wally Walrus, and even Miss Meany (even though she can act like an outright villain sometimes).
- He is an anti-hero since he is very selfish, psychotic and oftentimes a jerk, as a lot of the heroic things he does benefit himself and seems to relish with glee within his destructive antics and opportunistic behavior.
- In his own 2018 feature, he shows greed and gluttony in not caring about bonding with Lance's kid and just cared about the free food he was getting.
- He has a on & off side to his jerkish antics, as he has shown to be sadistic and has committed some misdeeds over the years.
- In "Knock Knock", he causes disruption in the lives of Andy Panda and his father by constantly creating holes in the roof of their house as a form of amusement.
- In "The Hollywood Matador", he terrorizes Oxnar and kills him before turning his remains into hamburgers for sale.
- In "The Dizzy Acrobat", he comes close to causing the death of an elephant by nearly causing it to burst while filled with water.
- In "Pantry Panic", he and a cat successfully kill a large moose.
- In "Ration Bored", he takes fuel from a cop and agitates him to such an extent that he is responsible for his death.
- In "The Barber of Sevilie", he is seen abusing and later murdering an Indian chief for no reason (it's also implied that the chief died).
- In "Woody the Giant Killer", he brutally abused a poor giant.
- It's additionally revealed that in "The Hollywood Matador" that he encourages animal abuse to be had in bullfighting.
- In "The Screwdriver", he is seen being a Karma Houdini who violated several traffic regulations by speeding on the road.
- In "Born To Peck", he caused harm and misery to his own father.
- He is very arrogant, as he argues over being the one to save Christmas with Wally or Meany. At the end of said episode, he was the last one to sing along with the cast. Even the antagonists, like Wally, Meany, and even Buzz and Tweaky who were trapped under a sofa sung along before he did.
- In "Pantry Panic", when he sees hunger personified in a figure that somewhat looks like the Grim Reaper, he lets out a sinister laugh to taunt the spirit that is accompanying him.
- He is a very lazy character in The New Woody Woodpecker Show, as he often finds ways to find the easy way out, like in "Downsized Woody" and "Ya Gonna Eat That?".
- In his own 2017 feature film Woody Woodpecker, his "mischievous trickster" trait alone gets fully exemplified to the point that he has become known feared as a sociopathic sadist, and also reckless troublemaker who had struck fear in everyone in the Pine Grove forest of Pennsylvania as this "mythological trickster entity" that has haunted the woods because of the chaos and mayhem he's caused, and his backstory has him taken very seriously (and played for horror) in the wilderness because of how much of a public nuisance he's known to be, such to the point of being a genuine menace to society (or in this case, the wilderness).
- He also annoys and tortures several people, such as Lance Walters and his family and appears to relish in making everyone's life bad, as well as outright taking pleasure in attempting to murder people, as well as taking photos of the people he harms for his own petty enjoyment (and acts like a serial killer).
Trivia[]
