In General[]

  • As a child, he served as a consultant to the townsfolk, helping them with their requests with his intellect in exchange for food or money.
  • William immediately understood that the nobles were capable of corruption and that it needed to stop, sparking his quest to purify Britain.
  • Despite being a villain for most of the show, William was genuinely motivated by a desire to balance the rights and powers of the working class and the nobility which is something consistent throughout the series. It is also worth noting that he was constantly plagued by guilt for these actions.
  • His actions, alongside Sherlock's, are ultimately the reason as to why the classist system in England was eventually abolished.

Season 1[]

  • He showed disgust at the child serial killings committed by Earl Argleton and decided to track him down in order to enable Eden to get his vengeance.
  • As shown in his backstory, William constantly took care of Louis for his physical sickness. The Final Problem Arc revealed this care caused Louis to start believing in his own value.
  • After leaving the old Moriarty household, William started a path to become a university math professor, helping many of his students learn the subject more easily.
  • Enabled Benjamin and Michelle Burton to punish the Viscount of Belfor, causing their bonds to strengthen as well as stop the nobleman's corruption.
  • When learning about the tragic tale of his student Lucien Atwood and his lover Frieda Macaulay, he was able to orchestrate the downfall of the vile Dudley Bale, who caused this tragedy as well as numerous others, and ensured those affected had closure.
  • At the start of the Noahtic Arc, he comes up with a plan to take down the corrupt aristocracy by staging grand plots to expose the vile crimes of the corrupt nobility, starting with the murderous Blitz Enders.
  • For his plan to take down Blitz Enders, he tricks the Count into believing that one of his victims is still alive, causing the Count to indirectly expose his sadism and egotism to the world before orchestrating his death.
  • Moriarty was able to create an opportunity for Jefferson Hope to avenge his wife by allowing the dying man to kill the cruel deviant, Count Drebber, indirectly enable Smith to get back his engagement ring and have Sherlock expose the Count's vile crimes.
  • After Sherlcok refused to kill Hope despite having the chance to learn more about the Lord of Crime, William declared him worthy to have him play the role of the hero for his crimes.
  • Accepted Holmes' offer to catch the culprit for the train murder and was successfully able to tray the real killer, Eddie Hawthorne, by using his planted blood on the glasses which set John Watson free.
  • Showed an admiration towards the partnership of Holmes and Watson.

Season 2[]

  • He, alongside Albert, decided to ensure Irene Adler's safety from the British government by taking the documents Adler had and convincing Mycroft Holmes to not only free Adler from their target but also continue their reform on Britain. William also inducts Adler into his organization under the new identity of James Bonde.
  • It is implied that in the next episode, William hired the thieves to rob the bank in order to encourage Bonde to become independent in her tasks and plans.
  • He accepted Jack Renfield's offer to stop the serial killings of Jack the Ripper, deducing that they are actually a group of coconspirators trying to ruin the country.
  • After coming up with a plan to have the police and Vigilance Committee work together by giving them a common enemy and prevent their conflict, William along with Louis track down and murder the real culprits behind the serial killings.
  • In order to free an innocent doctor from being falsely convicted as well as take down Chief Inspector Arterton, William sends Bonde on a mission to free the innocent man which results in the firing of the corrupt Chief Inspector as Bonde got the required documents.

  • When learning that Adam Whitely, a well respected MP, was indirectly manipulated by Milverton into murdering an inspector and smear his own reputation, William, with his consent, has Whitely die as a martyr while targeting himself as a hated enemy by the working class of Britain.
  • Decides to try and go after Milverton after learning about the threat he was becoming to Britain and decided to have his identity exposed by Milverton's paper in order to further his gambit in the Final Problem.
  • Was regretful at the backlash that Albert was going to face thanks to William's identity being exposed.
  • Has more hate directed onto him by the citizens of London with his murders in order to help them work with the nobility.
  • Gives Sherlock a final letter where he reveals that he saw Sherlock as a genuine friend instead of a simple pawn and wanted to keep talking with him, expresses that he hoped both of them could be reborn and be true friends unburdened by society.
  • After burning London to the ground, he stages a grand finale to the citizens of London that would paint Sherlock as a hero and himself as the villain in order to further improve the relationship between the different classes.
  • Due to Sherlock's support, William was able to let go of his suicidal desires and overcome his emotional anguish in order to ultimately redeem himself, working on a path to atone for his prior sins.
  • Met up with Sherlock at Scotland.

What Makes Him Inconsistant?[]

  • Even as a child, he was always willing to do favors of any kind, no matter how immoral they can be, as seen when William helps a bunch of robbers commit a very successful heist.
  • Initially has Sherlock framed for the murder of Count Drebber in order to test him.
  • Is willing to use underhanded and illegal methods as shown when falsely implanted blood stains on all the train staff so that he can bait the killer into revealing himself.
  • Ultimately, William's actions constitute both a Goodness Zone and Moral Event Horizon crossing as he constantly murders people and even burns down London in his goal to eradicate the classist system in Britain.
