| “ | "And while I was out, I got me some sushi. ASSUME THE POSITION, FISH BOY!!" | „ |
| ~ One of Wild Woody's famous lines he said after retrieving Squidlips, the pirate totem head. |
Wild Woody is the titular main protagonist of the 1995 Sega CD video game of the same name. He was an ordinary pencil that was brought to life by Low Man of the Totem Pole to round up his Totem brothers who had escaped his control and created parallel universes, and in order to gather the scattered heads of the totem pole.
He is voiced by Joe Kerska.
His Good Ranking[]
What Makes Him Admirable?[]
- He explored five diverse worlds within his universe: a pirate world, a mythological world, a mechanical world, a science-fiction world, and a spooky cemetery world. Each world presented complicated mazes filled with nerve-racking obstacles. He also faced complex boss fights, the result of the totem heads' evil deeds. His mission was to retrieve the five totem pole heads for Lowman, ultimately saving the world and the universe.
- Despite being a very silly pencil who claims that his very name being all that he knows, he still vows to save the world from destruction from the get-go and happily assists Lowman in his quest to bring his totem pole heads back to Lowman.
- Even though he's crazy and a jokester, Woody still vowed to save the universe and carried on with his selfless acts, even when he was underestimated by Lowman's brothers that Woody has already defeated on his own, such as Squidlips and Tombstone themselves.
- He single-handedly restored peace and balance to his own universe upon launching the head of Tombstone on the totem pole like it's a basketball with a basketball hoop, which brought Earth in itself, back to life after the world exploded at the beginning of the game's story.
- He also foiled the tyranny from all 5 worlds, dimensions, and mazes that the antagonistic totem pole heads conquered. Woody did this by defeating each totem pole head by hopping, jumping on their heads by surprise to use his eraser end to combat them and also finding out ways to outsmart all 5 of them in order to subdue every one of those Totem heads he fought, which also allowed him to set peace and balance to all of those worlds as well.
- When Tombstone underestimated him for being a sentient pencil, Woody basically shouts how "ability" and "chance" has got nothing to do with his own sense of justice and morality, as he corrects him from misnaming him as a "pencil neck" and says his name hysterically loud with valor and bravado, he then fearlessly jumps off the cliff and plummets into a trash can that leads to the level "The Pits" with a picture that says "Come on down... just For the HELL of it!", which he did very energetically to show how he wouldn't let any villain stop him from doing what's right.
What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]
- He is quite prideful, tending to think very highly of himself. As a result, he isn't afraid to be loud and hyperactive, and he often shouts his name needlessly loudly in everyone's faces, even when performing heroic actions.
- In fact, his wish for restoring the world and the universe back to normal, was to have a female pink paintbrush love-interest to fawn over Woody, thus making him a hedonist.
- He can be cocky and sarcastic, often displaying smugness, impudence and arrogance in his speech, thoughts, and superhero actions, with such moments include:
- He called "Squidlips" a fish boy as a teasing name.
- When Squidlips asked Woody if he was tough enough to fight a bunch of gods, Woody says that they won't know what'll hit them.
- Told Brimstone that he better had insurance for the loss for Brimstone's destroyed empire that Brimstone had mourned of.
- When Low Man congratulated Woody for saving the universe, Woody made a humble brag by saying "all I did was, bust a gut."
- He also comes across as cocky on the game's title card (as well as on the selection screen in his attempts to seem smug).
- Blew raspberry at the idea of Woody saving the world again unless the game he starred on the SEGA CD sold a zillion units.
- He can act like a jerk on small occasions, especially in the cutscenes with such moments like:
- Acting impatient when he irritably asked Low Man if he was done with the quest yet after retrieving Orbit.
- In the game over screen, he is seen swearing and looking angry at the player for losing the game.
- The game's cover having Woody with a stick of dynamite and running with an ear-to-ear gaping smile and devious-looking eyes, which directly implies that he is incredibly mischievous.
- He had one berserker moment. Where Woody got pretty violent and aggressive towards Orbit, the space cadet totem pole head with a rocket blasting on its back, by slamming the head onto the floor repeatedly to stop the rocket blasting, which Woody did this in an energized way like a brutal maniac who went mental, right before throwing him back on the totem pole.
- His most self-aware moment shows how fundamentally selfish he is, as Woody said that he wouldn't continue being a hero and saving the world again unless it was in his own best interest with the game he starred in sold a zillion units on the SEGA CD, thus showing how pragmatic he is in terms of saving the lives of others if it meant having his games turn out successfully (which, ironically, didn't happen since there were no sequels to the game).
- He happens to be horny and something of a pervert.
- His infamous sketch included a cute-looking adult mermaid with topless cleavage to flash at Woody.
- Woody's wish with getting a paintbrush girlfriend for saving the world from grave danger, had no bra on. It's not helping that Woody first responded to her existence with an excitable "horndog" expression (Slick Joe McWolf style) before he runs up to her and winks to her with a grin.
- The fact he is pretty shameless about his using his eraser end (basically his butt) to rub onto enemies as a form of attack, and as a way to erase walls and objects for him to find, makes him come across as really perverted and immature, even though he is only a pencil.
Trivia[]
- He is the only character from Wild Woody to be Inconsistently Admirable.
