Vegeta is the deuteragonist of the Dragon Ball franchise.
He starts as a villain, but as the story progresses, he becomes one of the heroes of the Z Warriors. He is the prince of the warrior race known as the Saiyans. He is Bulma's husband and the father of Trunks and Bulla, as well as Goku's former arch-nemesis and best friend.
He is voiced by Ryo Horikawa in the Japanese version of the anime and by Brian Drummond in the Ocean Dub and Christopher R. Sabat in the Funimation dub, who also voices Zoro in One Piece.

Dragon Ball Z[]
Namek Saga[]
- Defeated Dodoria and Zarbon, Frieza's top henchmen.
- Killed the members of Ginyu Force, although he does this brutally and after they were defeated, he does so to ensure they cant hurt anyone else; this is shown as when Goku scolds him for not showing mercy, he tells them they are scum and dont deserve it.
- Taught Gohan and Krillin how to fight Guldo.
- Putting Goku in a healing chamber due to his injury following his fight against Captain Ginyu.
- When he was about to die due to Frieza's deadly attack, Vegeta begs Goku to finish off Frieza and avenge the Saiyan race once and for all. These words were key for Goku to finally face and defeat Frieza, thus avenging the Saiyan race and ending his universal tyranny, at least for some time.
Androids Saga[]
- Saving Goku from being killed by Android 19 when Android 19 was slowly absorbing his life energy, although he did this mainly so he could have a chance to defeat Goku with his bare hands, he still saved Goku from certain death.
- Defeated and Killed Android 19, although without mercy but was necessary.
- Seeing that Cell had killed his son Future Trunks, Vegeta goes into a rage and decides to attack Cell in retribution for killing his son from the future.
- He manages to distract Cell long enough for Gohan to finally finish him off once and for all, saving the entire Solar System from certain destruction.
- While he wasn't fond of Future Trunks at first, he slowly grew to care for him. At the end of Cell Saga, Vegeta even bid him farewell before he returned back to the future timeline.
Majin Buu Saga[]
- Having become significantly less evil, Vegeta would eventually settle down on Earth and have a child with Bulma.
- After sensing Majin Buu's unsealing and being influenced by Goku's words, Vegeta became ashamed of himself for selling his soul to Babidi and decided to fight him and Majin Buu.
- During his fight with Fat Buu, realizing that he is unable to defeat the new threat and reflecting on his entire criminal life, Vegeta gives one last hug to his son Trunks before sacrificing himself by self-destructing to try and finish off Fat Buu once and for all to protect his loved ones (he does it even after Piccolo warned him that they probably won't be able to revive him with the Dragon Balls). While this fails to defeat Fat Buu, this is the most selfless and heroic thing he's ever done and he fully redeems himself with this act.
- While he knocked out Goten and Trunks before this, it's only so that the boys don't follow him and face Majin Buu.
- Although reluctantly, he finally agrees to merge with Goku to become Vegito, finish off Super Buu and at the same time free all the Z Fighters that Buu had absorbed.
- While Kid Buu was fighting Fat Buu and Goku, Vegeta proposed to revive everyone killed since the morning of the World Martial Arts Tournament, wanting to revive the innocent and good people he himself killed as Majin Vegeta as well as reviving those killed by Babidi and his henchmen, without any care for his own revival. This act, along with his sacrifice against Majin Buu is enough for Porunga to consider him as a good person, reviving him.
- Manages to let go of his envy against Goku and fully acknowledge him as the better of the two.
- By taking a huge beating, he distracts Kid Buu long enough for Goku to use the Spirit Bomb to finish off Kid Buu once and for all, saving the entire universe from the evil being.
- Agreed to spare Fat Buu after Goku convinced him to do so.
Dragon Ball Daima[]
- Joins Goku in his quest to search for the Demon Realm Dragon Balls in order to turn their friends back to their normal ages.
Dragon Ball Super[]
Battle of Gods Saga[]
- He manages to keep Beerus from destroying the Earth in a fit of rage, even if it meant humiliating himself in the process.
- When Beerus slapped his wife Bulma, Vegeta was so enraged that he attacked Beerus in a blind rage, stating that no one hurts his wife, showing how protective he had become after all this time.
- He decides to give Goku energy so that he can achieve the state of Super Saiyan God so that he can face Beerus, showing that he is capable of putting his pride aside if it means saving the entire universe.
Golden Frieza Saga[]
- He saves the Z-Fighters from being killed by Frieza by deflecting the energy attack of him.
- When Frieza tried to convince him to kill Goku in order to become his second-in-command, Vegeta refused and rejected his offer of corruption, much to his anger.
- Fights Frieza after he and Sorbet incapacitated Goku.
Universe 6 Saga[]
- Realizing that Cabba is a Saiyan like himself, Vegeta decides to push him to his limits and make him Super Saiyan, promising to train him later to become stronger.
Copy Vegeta Saga[]
- Nearly sacrifices his life to save Trunks from the Superhuman Water.
Future Trunks Saga[]
- Encouraged Trunks to not be complacent due to stronger enemies appearing all the time.
- Fought Goku Black after learning he killed Future Bulma.
- Fuses with Goku to become Vegito again so that Merged Zamasu can be defeated.
- With the help of Goku, Future Trunks, and Future Zeno, he manages to finish off Future Zamasu and Goku Black, thus saving the entire multiverse.
Tournament of Power Saga[]
- Initially refuses the offer to participate in the Tournament of Power due to Bulma being pregnant. Considering Vegeta left Bulma earlier when she was pregnant with Trunks, this shows his growth and love for his family. Vegeta only joined the Tournament of Power after Bulla is born and Bulma assures him they would be fine.
- Helped his teammates on several occasions throughout the Tournament of Power, such as saving Roshi from Frost.
- Saved Cabba from elimination and encouraged him to embrace his Saiyan pride.
- When Cabba (alongside Universe 6) was eliminated, Vegeta vowed to bring the universe back if he got the opportunity to request the wish from the Super Dragon Balls.
- During his fight against Toppo, by reflecting on his life and how he wants to save his loved ones, he gains enough motivation to finally defeat Toppo.
- Finally being defeated by Jiren, Vegeta decides to give all his remaining energy to Goku so that he can finally face the warrior from Universe 11, thus saving Universe 7.
Broly and Galactic Patrol Saga[]
- Although reluctantly, he agrees to become Gogeta with Goku to finally defeat Broly, after Goku reminds him that his loved ones could die if he doesn't agree.
- While he was mad at Goku for sparing Frieza and letting him go, it was understandable considering of all the things Frieza has done. Not to mention that Vegeta brought up a good point about the tyrant achieving more power and coming back for revenge.
- Helps Goku finally defeat Moro, thus saving the entire universe again. During the battle, Goku and the Z-Fighters also reflect on how hard Vegeta has worked to finally achieve redemption after a lifetime as a criminal.
Granolah the Survivor Saga[]
- Sympathizes with Granolah during their fight over the loss of his race.
- Attempts to defeat the Heeters and stop them from obtaining the Cerealian Dragon Balls.
- Gives Granolah the Dragon Radar so he can find the Cerealian Dragon Balls and undo the damage he did to Planet Cereal.
What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]
- Even if he's grown less arrogant over the years, he's still way too prideful and jerkish to qualify as a PG or NPG, such as when he cruelly insults Magetta with no remorse when he feels really offended and when he refuses to lend Goku his energy to defeat Jiren with a Spirit Bomb, something that even Frieza does, albeit pragmatically.
- He's in the grey zone, as when he was a villain, he committed too many heinous crimes to ignore despite being redeemed since then, such as wiping out entire races and selling their planets, betraying and murdering his partner Nappa, slaughtering an entire Namekian village that included elders and children, causing civilian deaths during his fight with Android 18, and killing dozens of people at the World Tournament Arena to spite Goku into fighting him, which eventually led to the revival of Majin Buu, especially since he hardly showed any remorse for any of this and none of these people (except for the ones he killed at the World Tournament Arena) were ever brought back to life.
- He has shown to be quite anti-heroic for much of the series.
- He almost never shows his enemies any mercy, as shown when he kills Ginyu without giving him a chance to live and nearly kills Broly without realizing he's not actually a bad person.
