Sweet mother of monkey milk!
~ Vanellope's catchphrase.
Ralph, you son of a gun!
~ Vanellope’s second catchphrase
I want this to be my life. I can't go home now.
~ Vanellope towards Shank after seeing how good Slaughter Race is.

Vanellope von Schweetz is the deuteragonist of Disney's 52nd full-length featured film Wreck-It Ralph and its sequel Ralph Breaks the Internet.

She plays the role of typical annoying yet well meaning kid, she is seen as a glitch by her own game thanks to Turbo's influence. It is revealed at the end of the movie that she is actually the princess of Sugar Rush thanks to the help of Ralph, the film ends with her becoming a more well rounded character who despite her still being mischievous, has become a better person thanks to the help of Ralph.

She was voiced by Sarah Silverman.

Her Good Ranking[]

What Makes Her Admirable?[]

  • She saved Ralph from falling into Diet Cola Mountain.
  • Despite the Sugar Rush racers originally bullying her relentlessly, Vanellope shows no disdain towards them upon becoming the princess. Furthermore, she forgives them (even though she briefly joked saying that she would execute them, she revealed that she was joking afterwards), possibly because she knew it wasn't their fault since Turbo altered their codes.
  • She won the race in Sugar Rush, thus restoring the memories of all of its residents.
  • Despite being mad initially, she ultimately forgives Ralph for releasing Arthur onto Slaughter Race.
  • She saved the internet from Ralphzilla.

What Makes Her Inconsistent?[]

  • She became incredibly selfish in the sequel, with her abandoning her own game and disregarding the impact it might have on the game's popularity and thus, staying time, which is effectively putting potentially hundreds of lives at risk. Not to mention this is the exact thing that the villain of the first movie did and it was treated as a MEH.
  • She rebelled against the person controlling her game, which caused her arcade machine to break, which, if not for buying a new steering wheel, could've doomed the entire game for good.
  • She has shown to have a high level of arrogance, especially during the first film, and acts like a jerk one too many times, such as:
    • Showing no empathy towards Ralph when he clung onto disappearing double stripes and fell into the sugar lake and tried stealing his medal he earned fair and square to race.
    • Threatening to execute all of the Sugar Rush racers for mistreating her despite them showing remorse over their actions. Granted, she's just being sarcastic, but though still.
    • Still arrogantly thinks she's better than Taffyta, saying that she could "kick her butt".
    • Muting her phone so Ralph doesn't know she's in Slaughter Race.
    • Had a wrathful reaction towards Ralph when he told her that he released Arthur into Slaughter Race, and destroyed the friendship necklace she made for him. While she apologizes for it later, she still took it too far.

Trivia[]

  • Vanellope is the only Wreck-It Ralph character to become Inconsistently Admirable. However, she used to share that spot with Ralph himself, before he was approved for Near Pure Good.
  • Her being IA is most likely a full accident, as the second film is clearly meant to portray her as in the right, despite the fact that in the first film it's made clear that abandoning a game was portrayed to be a very selfish thing.
  • It is highly likely that Vanellope would've been Near Pure Good if it weren't for the second film's release, as her biggest corrupting factor of abandoning her own game just so she can have more fun in another game only appeared in the second installment in addition to being even more arrogant and selfish.
