What’s the work?
I doubt this section is needed considering that he is from a well-known video game franchise. But if you are unfamiliar with it, he’s from Super Mario, a series created by Nintendo. The series is usually about Mario on his quest to save Princess Peach from Bowser and other threats. Although the franchise is normally a platformer, there are multiple sub-series in the franchise that took on different genres, from RPGs such as Paper Mario and Mario & Luigi, to racing games like Mario Kart.
Who is he? What did he do?
Blumiere, also known as Count Bleck, is the main antagonist of Super Paper Mario. Basically, he met someone named Timpani when he was injured who saved him and the two fell in love. His father disapproved of their relationship, so he banished her to prevent their marriage. Count Bleck, presuming her dead after a while of searching for her, steals the Dark Prognosticus and uses it to destroy his home dimension.
This starts his plans of destroying the entire multiverse to avenge her with him spending most of the game trying to achieve this. He enlists the help of O’Chunks, Mimi, Nastasia (who he saved at one point), and Dimentio. Our heroes try preventing this by collecting the Pure Hearts. During the game, he finds out Timpani is still alive and is eventually betrayed by Dimentio who plans on using the Chaos Hearts to destroy the multiverse and recreate it in his image. After his defeat, he leaves behind a “shadow of his power” (as Count Bleck puts it) to destroy the multiverse out of spite. The newly-redeemed Count Bleck and Timpani sacrifice themselves to stop this by using their love for each other to restore the Pure Hearts.
Why doesn’t he qualify?
The main issue I have with him is that he fails the admirable standards as the main cast spent most of the game trying to stop the multiverse from being destroyed. It doesn’t help that Mario and Bowser have more to their rap-sheet alongside this, such as the former stopping Lord Crump from committing genocide on the pumies, stopping the Shadow Queen, or both of them stopping King Olly’s genocide attempt. Mario and his allies even stopped Bonechill’s plans in Chapter 7.
The main thing that boosted him up was the fact that he sacrificed himself to stop Dimentio’s omnicide attempt. I don’t feel this helps him as this is something he indirectly caused as Dimentio stole the Chaos Hearts from him. Count Bleck even acknowledges that this was his fault and that “it was his price to pay”. His heroic sacrifice was also shared with Timpani and that's not mentioning that she played an active role in helping the heroes. His resources don’t help him as he is capable of using magic. Overall, I feel he fails the admirable standards as his sacrifice is arguably undoing something he caused.
