Who is He?[]
Megatron is the main antagonist of the series. He is the tyrannical leader of the Decepticons who began the Great War against his former friend Optimus Prime, but after travelling to a different universe and seeing what he could have become if he fully embraced tyranny, he began to change for the better and started to make preparations to protect his homeworld from his variant.
What's the Work?[]
Transformers: Cyberverse is a cartoon animated series based on the ever popular Hasbro franchise of the same name. It focuses on the Great War between Autobots and Decepticons, but unlike most continuities explores a post-war Cybertron as the Cybertronians deal with further threats such as Quintessons and Mercenaries
What Makes Him Admirable?[]
- Unlike most versions of Megatron, he didn't gain following because of his ruthlessness in the gladitorial ring, but because of his charisma and personality, even Bumblebee used to admire him and Optimus was a close friend and follower of his.
- He intially formed the Decepticon Movement with the genuine intentions to reform Cybertron and provide equal rights, though he slowly began to change as he gathered more power.
- Though he did ignite the Great War that led to Cybertron's death and the endangerment of the Transfomer race, unlike most versions of him, he genuinely wished to end the war and met up with Optimus at MacAddams several times throughout it in hopes of a peace treaty.
- After Starscream stole the Allspark, he agreed to have a peace treaty with Optimus and discuss how they could help each other in this crisis and get their troops to work together though ultimately nothing came of it.
- After being saved by Cheetor from Starscream's scraplets attack, he chose to allow the Autobots to leave in gratitude with no pragmatic motives whatsoever.
- After being freed from the Quintessons, he joined the Cybertronian Alliance and though he didn't wish to help in the conflict, after being convinced by Dead End to take the Quintessons' Multiverse drive to travel to other realities, he joined as one of the main forces in the assault, even if it was for pragmatic reasons.
- Arriving to a different universe where a version of him had won the Great War, Megatron bore witness firsthand to all the atrocities he had committed and could have committed and being faced with how far he'd strayed from his main goal, chose to redeem himself by stealing Megatron X's Matrix of Leadership at the cost of his own optic.
- He freed Astrotrain and the Insecticons from Megatron X's rule, bringing them back with him to his home reality.
- He chose to return to his original universe in order to assist in the Quintesson crisis, finding Starscream as the new Judge, he helped free the prisoners and combined the energy of his Matrix with Optimus' in order to overwhelm Starscream with energy and kill him once and for all, saving the entire universe from anhhilation at the Quintessons' hands.
- He ended the Great War by calling a ceasefire and began to prepare his world for the arrival of Megatron X, having Astrotrain and Dead End create a weapon that could send it's victims into unspace and trying to get the help of the alternate Thirteen within the new Matrix.
- Once Megatron X's supersoldiers began teleporting in, he had the dimensional shields raised and called Optimus in for aid.
- He bestowed all his troops with multiversal energy wich allowed them to defeat the first wave of invaders, and he himself took out the second wave with his personal dimension ray.
- Even after being attacked and disarmed by his variant, he still tried one last attack before being fatally wounded, dying in Optimus' arms, using his last moments to encourage his old friend to defeat Megatron X.
What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]
- He is too tyrannical and spent basically the entire show as the main antagonist, being responsible for most of the events that transcurred as he was the one that started the Great War and led to Cybertron's demise. Not to mention his act of trying to kill the Allspark by poisoning it with Shockwave's spark which would have led to the extinction and mass destruction of all Cybertronian life in the universe, including off world colonies, forcing Cheetor to sacrifice himself by giving his own spark to once more purify it. Also while he does become remorseful for the Great War and his treatment of Starscream, he never shows remorse for this or any of his much viler crimes, making him to corruptive for NPG
- He is considerably lethal and dangerous as he was a brutal gladitorial warrior who rose through the ranks because of his insane strength and raw power, earning his most famous victory by crushing Devastator Maximus' brain module. His lethality only increased after the war as he brutally ripped of Bumblebee's voice box in order to prevent him from revealing Megatron's plans with the Allspark to other Autobots and mercilessly murdered Starscream by sadistically chasing him through the Nemesis and shooting him point blank in the back with his Fusion Cannon before dropping him to the moon (though to be fair Starscream had tried to kill him before).
- He is a huge jerk and is a very egotistical person as he refused to lend his aid initially during the Quintesson conflict even with others like Soundwave asking him to, and really only helped because Dead End promised him the chance to conquer countless realities by stealing the Quintessons' Multiverse Drive. Even after his redemption and ending the Great War he still retains many negative traits as he had Cybertron split in two to divide the factions and kept the comatose Windblade hidden on his side and only returned her because Optimus called him out for it when Bee and Whirl were on his territory and he tried to execute them.
- When the Autobot desserter WildWheel returned to Cybertron looking for Optimus, Megatron completely ignored the treaty for once and led him directly to the border so he could find the Prime, offering him a place in the Decepticon ranks depending on how he returned.
Final Verdict[]
I give him a simple Yes
