Since I seen zero Overlord characters on a moral scaling Wiki I thought of trying proposing one out instead and decided to Sebas Tian since he is the most Admirable character I can find of.
What’s the work?[]
Overlord is a Light Novel series made by Kugane Maruyama about a player named Momoga being last of his guild and on the day of a game he on is shutdown he is sent to another world becoming his character and NPCs given free will. There he set out to explore the world and later try to take over it too.
Who is he?[]
Sebas Tian is an NPC created by Touch Me to be one of the Pleiades as last line of defense of the Great Tomb of Nazarick as leader of the Pleiades Six Stars.
What Makes Him Admirable[]
Admirable Standards[]
it be unfair to compare him to Ainz Ooal Gown who had higher resources having the Great Tomb of Nazarick and Sorcerer Kingdom at his disposal, most of his admirable acts were fabricated through schemes because with the exception of taking down Clementine and stopping E-Rantel from being turned into a city of undead. and stopping a giant deadly lizard are the only legit ones as saving E-Rantel and Holy Kingdom from Deiurge was one of those schemes to make him look good meaning those wasn't legit heroism. Rest of Ainz's acts are mostly villainous ones.
He also be unfair to be compared to the 13 Heroes ad they have much higher resources and all did offscreen heroism so they can't be factored in.
The lizardmen also are weaker than him so they be unfair to compare them to him. The Blue Roses for same reason and offscreen heroism too.
Despite the series having a high Heinous Standard, the Admirable Standards are somehow much lower than it while still a bit high in it's own right and because Sebas lacks fair completion with them being too weak (The Lizzardmen, Climb and Brain), have higher resources (Ainz Ooal Gown and 13 Heroes), not actual heroism (Ainz Ooal Gown & Narberal Gamma as Momon & Nabe and Ainz as himself) or suffer offscreen heroism (13 Heroes and Blue Roses) to compare to him, he is able passes the Admirable Standards without issue.
Admirable Acts[]
- He manage to convinced Ainz Oowl Gown to save Carne Village after he initially refused.
- He saved Tuare from Mam Who Dump Tuare (unoriginal name right) and convinced Solution to heal her up despite knowing the risk. He later then convince Ainz Oowl Gown to take her in to Nazarick.
- He saved some trafficked women with Brain and Climb when he went to dealt with Staffan Heivish an corrupt parole officer in kahoots with 8 Fingers crime syndicate for threatening him and Solution, while Sebas did brutally kill Staffan this was justified and for satisfaction due to Staffan corrupt acts and abusing & raping multiple women for his own pleasure.
- He took down 6 Arms a evil group of mercenaries loyal to 8 Fingers to rescue Tusdare when she got kidnapped again.
- He alongside some other some human sympathizing NPCs convinced Ainz Ooal Gown to spare some of the population of Re-Estate when the Sorcerer Kingdom went to war with the country.
- While he had lethal moments most of them were justified as he killed traffickers, villainous mercenaries, and a noble assaulting a woman which is played for satisfaction. Anything smaller he just incapacitate them instead.
- While Ainz did more Admirable Acts, Sebas stands out for relying on less resources and do his heroic acts out of genuine care not out of schemes, selfish, or usefulness reasons things like Ainz and Narberal did as Momon and Nabe.
What makes him Inconsistent?[]
- He got one massive prevention that keep him from being PG or NPG is due to the fact he serves Ainz Oowl Gown a villain who committed many villainous acts and while he is disturbed by his genocide of Re-Estaz he is too loyal to Ainz to stop it or oppose him due to his programing. This also allow him to nearly "kill" Tuare when Ainz (Actually Pandora's actor posing as Ainz) ordered to kill her to prove his loyalty, he did hesitate at first but eventually did attempt to land a blow, Cocytus did block the blow but said it had enough force to kill her which is also another reason why can't be NPG.
- He suffers some moral agency issues due to him originally being an NPC being programed by Touch Me but he gains some self choice and awareness of right and wrong making it a minor prevention.
Verdict[]
I say middle yes as due to the Admirable Standards are much lower than the Heinous Standard and lack of actual heroism shown onscreen with any competition being unfair to compare him to, so he passes the Admirable Standards for saving Tuare, him taking down Six Arms, convincing Ainz Ooal Gown to save Carne Village and spare some of Re-Estate's civilians from slaughter but due to him prioritizing his loyalty of Ainz over others being too much of a corruption to be NPG and has moral agency issues due to being a programmed NPC to be loyal to Ainz.
