What's The Work?[]

Star Trek The Next Generation is the second tv series in the Star Trek Franchise. It is set roughly around a hundred years after the original and follows a crew of starfleet officers led by Captain Jean Luc Picard as they seek out new worlds and civilisations.

Who is He?[]

Worf is the first klingon to join Starfleet. He was raised by humans after his family was killed in a Romulan attack. While he is rough around the edges he is also brave, selfless and loyal. He later joins the crew of Deep Space Nine where he falls in love with Jadzia Dax.

What Makes Him Admirable?[]

  • When Klingons attack the ship and try to convince Worf to join them he refuses, remaining loyal to Picard and the rest of the crew.
  • After his deceased father is framed for treason Worf decides not to expose it as part of a deal to save his brother Kurn and in the hopes of averting a civil war that would cause countless Klingon deaths.
  • Along with Data he saves Picard from the Borg.
  • He genuinely loves his son Alexander.
  • Helped Picard expose Adra as an imposter trying to take control of Ventax II.
  • Delivered Molly O'Brien when Keiko went into labour.
  • Went against Klingon tradition to spare Toral, refusing to punish him for his family's crimes.
  • Helped Riker rescue Soren despite the risk to himself out of loyalty to his friend.
  • Helped his foster brother Nikolai save the Boraalans.
  • Saved Alexander when he was kidnapped by Eli Hollander after the holodeck malfunctioned.
  • Along with the rest of the crew he helped Picard to pass the Q Continuim's test and save humanity.
  • Helped stop the Borg's plan to travel back in time and assimilate Earth by destroying the Borg sphere and helping to destroy the enterprise's deflector dish.
  • Fires a shot at Shinzon's invisible ship the schimitar, making it visible and therefore easier for him to be defeated.
  • Held off some Remans when they attacked the enterprise in the middle of the crew's attempt to stop Shinzon from destroying the entire population of Earth.
  • Despite his grudge against Romulans he praises them for fighting with honor to protect Earth.
  • Refused to support Gowron's actions as he felt they were morally wrong despite it meaning him being discommended from the empire.
  • Exposed the Klingon plans to invade Cardassia.
  • Along with Sisko he convinced Gowron to call his forces off during the first battle of Deep Space Nine.
  • Stopped Kurn from committing suicide before erasing his memories to allow him to think he was part of a family that wasn't disgraced.
  • Stopped Garak from comitting genocide against the Founders even though they were his enemies.
  • Comforts O'Brien after the death of his friend Muniz.
  • Along with Jadzia he stopped the New Essentaliasts from disabling Risa's seismology which risked destroying every structure on the planet's surface
  • Saved Jadzia when she was seriously wounded by a Jem Ha'dar energy weapon.
  • Successfully underwent a dangerous mission to get Jadzia into the Klingon afterlife Sto-Vo-Kor.
  • Killed Gowron, putting an end to his corrupt and incompetent leadership which was endangering the Alpha Quadrant and allowing the more benevolent Martok to take control as Emperor.
  • Saved Musiker from Sneed.
  • Rescued Riker and Troi from the Shrike.
  • Leaked Musiker's heroic deeds to her family to help her reconcile with them

What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]

  • He is extremely arrogant, stubborn and at times downright rude.
  • He is very bigoted towards Romulans. He once refused to do a transfusion to save a Romulan which resulted in their death.
  • Despite loving him he was a flawed parent to Alexander, sending him away several times, making him feel unwanted and unloved.
  • While well-intentioned erasing Kurn's memory can be seen as morally questionable as he did so without his consent.
  • There are 2 episodes where he sides with the antagonist. In "The Drumhead" he justified Satie's authoritarian tactics and helped her implement them. In "Let He who is without sin" he assisted the New Essentalists Movement in sabotaging Risa's Weather Control System. While he regretted it both times this shows he isn't incorruptible.
