This is my first Inconsistently Admirable proposal: Panda Bear from We Bare Bears. As of now, Grizz is NPG and Ice Bear is IA, so here I am proposing the last of the three Bear brothers for a moral ranking.
What's the work?[]
We Bare Bears is an American animated series created by Daniel Chong for Cartoon Network. The series revolves around three brother bears (Grizz, Panda and Ice Bear) and their awkward attempts at integrating with the human world in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Who is the character?[]
Panda Bear is one of the three main protagonists of We Bare Bears. He a tender-hearted, yet somewhat cowardly and insecure panda bear who loves anime and using his phone.
What makes him admirable?[]
- During a hike, he indirectly scares off a pack of vicious wolves, later engaging in a stacking battle with them at night.
- He saved Clifford from dying of a peanut allergy, risking his own life to the allergy in the process.
- He volunteered to be Lucy's dance partner at the contest to win a new produce truck.
- He helped Grizz save all the captured bears from the wildfire.
- He and his brothers helped protect a large family of rabbits against a flock of invading crows.
What makes him inconsistent?[]
- He is often shown to be a selfish jerk who does things for his own benefit at many times:
- He becomes really jealous of Lucy bonding with his brothers more than him, leading to him going as far as locking Grizz and Ice Bear in the closet just so he could have dinner with her.
- He initially babysits Clifford in order to get closer to Lucy.
- He forbids Grizz and Panda from using his phone anymore after they almost break it, eventually becoming jealous of their new cell phones and trying to hide the devices away from them.
- He fakes a foot injury in order to get out of the dancing contest after finding out how bad of a dancer Lucy is.
- He becomes really depressed and jealous upon finding out that Lucy is in a relationship and is quick to be cold to Kale, Lucy's boyfriend, upon first meeting him.
- Upon acquiring new braces, he gets a temporary superpower which allows him to telepathically manipulate electronics and float them in the air and eventually becomes insane as it lets his emotions get out of control, leading to his transformation into the supervillain Pandaro the Powerful who plans to destroy the city and everyone who's mean to him.
- He can be a bit wrathful, as shown when he lashes out at Grizz and Ice Bear while they are on the run from Agent Trout, berating them for what they had put him through and eventually harming their feelings by saying that they are not brothers.
- Overall, at times he is portrayed as extremely immature selfish and causes trouble, treating his brothers and even women in an unfair way.
