Jonathan F. "John" Walker, formerly known as Captain America, and later known as U.S. Agent, is a major character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He is a captain in the United States Army who, following the retirement of Steve Rogers, was briefly appointed the new "Captain America," being tasked with promoting the mantle while also fighting the Flag Smashers.
Walker was later stripped of the mantle after murdering a member of the Flag Smashers, gaining the ire of Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes. Though stripped of the mantle, Walker would continue to pursue Karli Morgenthau, and was later recruited by Vallentina Allegra de Fontaine to be the "U.S. Agent."
He is portrayed by Wyatt Russell.
His Good Ranking[]
What Makes Him Admirable?[]
Background[]
- Walker performed many acts of heroism during his time in the United States military, from counterterrorism to hostage rescues, to the point where he would shake the hands of two United States presidents.
- He would also receive three Medals of Honor for his time in Afghanistan, a historical feat given that no other recepient received more than two.
- Jumped on top of a grenade 4 times to save his fellow soldiers.
- While these acts of heroism are offscreen, they have more than enough onscreen effects as its why he became Captain America in the first place and we're shown his numerous medals of honor as proof of his actions.
- Despite the MCU's astronomically high admirable standards, he stands out through his numerous acts of heroism in Afghanistan and saving all of New York City and Bob Reynolds from the Void.

- Visited Lemar's family to give them peace/closure of Lemar Hoskins.
- Went after Karli to avenge Lemar's death.

What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]
- Like most of the Thunderbolts, Walker is a textbook definition of an anti-hero, having many negative traits (despite being the only one to not have been a villain) and is very different from Steve Rogers (former Captain America) and Sam Wilson (current Captain America):
- He has a constant jerkish attitude and massive temper. He barges in while Sam is trying to talk with Karli, ruining the issue further. He almost fights Sam for not turning Zemo over. He also almost attacks Bob for calling him out for being an "a--hole".
- Just before being defeated by Sam and Bucky to reclaim Captain America's shield from him, he refuses to stand down and decided to kill the duo, as they tried to reason with him and reduce the damage has been done to the public. After he was fired by the US government and the Army, he lies to Lemar's family about Lemar's death by blaming it on Nico, instead of Karli Morgenthau (who is Lemar's killer).
- After the conflict with the Flag Smashers has ended after a few years ago, he was shown to be ignoring his crying son for attention/help and looking on his phone over his failed career as a former Captain America on social media and it was the final straw for him and Olivia to get divorced and took the child away from him, which blew his chance of becoming a responsible parent.
- He infamously killed Nico with his shield in TFATWS in a fit of rage in front of the public while the former was begging for his life, and later tried to kill Bucky and Sam. While some could argue it was justified and/or deserved (as Nico was holding him down to be murdered by Karli, which accidentally got Lemar killed when he jumped in to save John), it was still very brutal nonetheless and despite having moved on from his desire for revenge, he doesn’t show any remorse for his this.
- This ultimately led to him being removed from his status as Captain America despite all he had done for the army and his unfair treatment.
- While it ultimately saved them, he nearly got Ghost, Yelena, and Bob killed in an elevator shaft while attempting to help them, even though it was a tactical decision, which makes him slightly reckless despite being a very efficient soldier. Ghost even calls him a “selfish prick”.
