Thomas Jasper Cat Sr., better known as Tom Cat or simply Tom, is one of the two titular main protagonists (alongside Jerry Mouse) of the Tom and Jerry franchise.
He is a cat of unknown breed who is always tasked with hunting Jerry Mouse, a slippery rodent who often escapes from his claws. Under the threats of his owners, Tom often comes up with different schemes to get and eat Jerry, but most of his plans end in failure or make him a target of Spike Bulldog. He is Jerry's arch-enemy and best friend.
He is voiced by the late William Hanna, and has been replaced by countless voice actors since then, but archive recordings of Hanna are still used to this day for some of Tom's noises.

What Makes Him Admirable?[]
- In almost every day and every series, he helped Jerry to stop literally every villain of the series depending on the plot.
- He stopped Drizelda from causing the deaths of millions.
- He stood up to Pristine and saved Robyn from getting killed by her.
- He prevented Tin, Pan, and Alley from stealing millions of jewelry.
- He risked his life to save two dragons from being stoned by Drizelda.
- In the episode "Cat-Astrophe", he destroyed a meteor before it could hit the Earth, saving the world from destruction.
What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]
- He is a on & off character.
- He's extremely selfish to the point he's willing to snatch items and harm anyone to get what he wants.
- He is way too mischievous and a bit of a uncaring jerk as he is willing to drive Jerry and Spike insane at some point.
- He is extremely lethal as he occasionally provokes Jerry out of sadism and tries to kill him.
- He tends to be quite incompetent and clumsy with his job of getting rid of Jerry as a mouser, which is far too much for NPG.
- In Tom and Jerry: The Fast and the Furry, Tom commits his most infamous acts and Moral Event Horizon crosses by cheating on the Fabulous Super Race. His cheating leads to Soccer Mom losing her car in quicksand and being left stranded in the jungle before being apparently devoured by the insects there, leaving her children orphaned. He then, in an attempt to prevent Jerry, Grammy and Squirty from beating him in Australia, uses a laser to cut through the land, sinking half of the country, an act that inevitably killed millions of people. Lastly, while flying over Borneo's oceans, Tom tries to pop the balloon carrying Jerry's car, but ends up popping the balloon from Grammy and Squirty, which sends them thousands of feet to their deaths due to not having any parachutes.
