“ | Power's changed you. Now you're willing to sacrifice innocent lives for your own interest. You're no better than any other Baron. Swindling people with declarations of good will, only to stab them in the back. | „ |
~ Tilda's calling out the Widow's hypocrisy. |
Tilda, also known as The Iron Rabbit, is one of the two tritagonists (alongside Bajie) of the AMC series Into the Badlands.
She is the Widow's adoptive daughter and Regent, serving her in their quest to put an end to the Cog slave trade and make a better world in the Badlands. Despite how noble their goals are, Tilda commits numerous questionable or morally ambiguous actions throughout the series and eventually abandons her mother to act as a vigilante against all Barons of the Badlands.
She was portrayed by Ally Ioannides.
Her Good Ranking[]
What Makes Her Admirable?[]
- In general, she's incredibly compassionate and protective towards her allies. She's also no stranger to giving other people a second chance in spite of how horrible their past deeds are. As demonstrated with the friendships she forms with M.K., Waldo, Sunny, and Nix.
- Fighting alongside her mother to demolish the Cog slave trade.
- Going against her mother's wishes to help M.K. escape, even though she knew how dangerous his Gift was. Her love for M.K. is never subverted even after he betrays her and joins Pilgrim.
- Once the Widow's hypocrisy becomes clear, she compromises her ideals by trading Veil to Quinn in order to take down the other Barons with him. She also turns against the Widow to become the Iron Rabbit and instead starts fighting against both her and Baron Chau, killing their Clippers and stealing their resources in the process to give to the war refugees.
- While she initially refused, she eventually agreed to help the Widow take down Chau due to Chau being the main proponent of the Cog slave trade, in spite of her distrust of The Widow herself.
- Upon being told by Odessa that she isn't willing to continue their relationship if Tilda doesn't give up on the war, Tilda ultimately decides that protecting the refugees is what's more important.
- When the Widow vanished after a battle with Chau, she and Gaius Chau sought to find her and kill the Baron.
- During the final battle for the Badlands against Pilgrim and M.K. (who are now aiming for world domination), Tilda openly tells M.K. that she would be willing to sacrifice her own life to stop them. She later saves The Widow from a sword stab by taking it herself, potentially sacrificing her life to save her mother (though her death hasn't been confirmed).
What Makes Her Inconsistent?[]
- She's an extremist, killing anyone who opposes her in her pursuit to create a better world for the Badlands.
- She has a moment of being a pervert upon seeing M.K. undressing and staring at him despite him asking her to turn around.
- She initially stood by the Widow's decision to work with Quinn, only abandoning her after the Widow becomes completely indefensible after trading Veil away.
- She was perfectly willing to kill any Clipper that crossed her path during her time as an outlaw, many of which who didn't deserve to die as they were fighting for a better world. She even downright admits that she isn't really any better than the Widow they were both responsible for the deaths of innocent people in the name of changing the Badlands for the better. She even slaughtered all of Quinn's Clippers after the Widow released them since she didn't want to hold people in her clutches against their will.
- Ultimately she becomes a hypocrite like the Widow, as she berates Lydia over her willingness to ally with the Widow for the sake of helping the war refugees, even though Lydia serving as a Viceroy for the Widow in exchange for help being given to the refugees has done significantly more to help them than Tilda acting as an outlaw.
- She's been willing to kill even when the situation doesn't call for it, gleefully slaughtering her opponents even after they've successfully been disarmed.
- She treats Gaius Chau poorly over his relationship with the Widow, frequently threatening him for no reason even after he fought side by side with her against his sister.
