“ | Peace had been a distraction. My purpose was to destroy, and emotion had no place in it. . . . And even as I thought this way, I couldn't bring myself to harm another innocent. I'd changed too much. |

~ The Nightmare Knight explaining his actions to Princess Parfait |
"Cucumber Quest" is a webcomic created by Gigi D.G. The story revolves around a bunny kid named Cucumber, who has to save his home planet of Dreamside from a threat known as the Nightmare Knight. In order to defeat him, they must first defeat his minions, the Disaster Masters, his minions, in typical RPG fashion.
At first it seems like the Nightmare Knight is the Big Bad/Ultimate Evil of the story, but things are not quite as they seem.
His Good Ranking[]
What Makes Him Admirable?[]
- He was revealed to have been protecting the people of Dreamside from the Disaster Masters, for the past 10,000 years, every time he was summoned, therefore saving numerous from being killed, making him arguably one of the most admirable characters in the series. He is shown saving Trebelopolis and all its citizens from being wiped out by the Noise Blaster, so this isn't offscreen.
- Implied to have a hand in several miracles that saved the previous 98 heroes.
- Acts as Peridot's second parent figure
- He retrieves Peridot from a baking competition where she was causing chaos.
- He watches Punisher Pumice to humor Peridot.
- He saves Parfait from the BLT Squads' harassment and doesn't harm Sir Tomato in the process, only scaring him.
- He talks to Parfait, and delivers the note she wrote to Carrot explaining how proud she is of him.
- Although he harms Mezzo, it is implied that he did this to get the party across to the castle faster (Trebelopolis and it's citizens were at stake), being threatened by Noisemaster.
- He makes an attempt to talk to Cucumber (even if he did try to scare him and his sister later).
- He is implied to save Carrot after he falls.
- He befriends Parfait and heeds her advice regarding hiding his intentions from the Disaster Masters.
- Heeding Parfait's advice, he tries to tell Quakemaster the truth about why they always fail (though this backfired).
- After Quakemaster almost melts down Basultbury, he uses his powers to stop him, freezing him until he is destroyed.
What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]
- He is too mischievous to even be close to Pure Good:
- Before helping Nautilus and Cucumber get across the wall, he scares them with the idea that he may kill them by throwing a ball of energy at them
- He frequently misnames Peridot to get a rise out of her
- He pranks Cordelia, making her believe that he wanted to dispose of her using TheBestMaster (who turned out to be harmless). This was his idea of a peace offering.
- He is very disdainful towards Splashmaster's "incompetence", despite the fact that Splashmaster is doing the best with the resources he was given. Made even worse by the implication that he could make him stronger, but refuses to due to his newfound morals.
- He has emotional control issues: He nearly harms Cordelia in a fit of anger after she insults him. He was willing to use his powers to actively put Almond and Cucumber into a dangerous situation, out of Almond upsetting him (even if he wasn't willing to kill them).
