~ The trailer for Animator vs. Animation 3. |
The Chosen One is the deuteragonist of the Animator vs. Animation web series, serving as the main protagonist of Season 1 and one of the two main protagonists (alongside the Second Coming) of Seasons 2 and 3.
He was a stick figure created by the Animator simply because he was looking for a challenge. Although originally wanting nothing more than to break free from the Animator's control and cause as much havoc as possible, the Chosen One starts having second thoughts once he sees how evil his best friend the Dark Lord has become, culminating in his redemption in an attempt to save all computers from destruction. He is the previous archenemy of the Animator and the best friend-turned-archenemy of the Dark Lord.
His Good Ranking[]
What Makes Him Admirable?[]
- Even before his redemption, he showed mercy to the Dark Lord and gave him a chance to join him, despite the fact the Dark Lord was created specifically to kill him.
- He grew more and more horrified as he watched the Dark Lord slaughter countless across the Internet, to the point he's seen begging his friend to let the Tankman live.
- Once he realized the Dark Lord is planning on worldwide destruction with a ViraBot army, he redeems himself and tries to stop him.
- He first tried to peacefully stop the Dark Lord with "words" (well, as much words as mute beings can emit), resulting to violence only when he had no other choice. Even then, he didn't decide to kill him until the Dark Lord tried to kill him first.
- Despite the Animator torturing him and outright enslaving him for four years, he still tries to save his computer once a ViraBot is send there due to acknowledging him as his "father" and the one who gave him his powers in the first place.
- Even if one argues he hasn't forgiven the Animator and simply realised even he doesn't deserve being attacked by a ViraBot, it's not a preventing quality as heroes, even the Pure Good ones, aren't required to forgive their enemies.
- He saves the Second Coming's life by arriving moments before the ViraBot kills him.
- He kills the ViraBot that was sent by the Dark Lord to the Animator's computer.
- It's shown that he has no ego as he simply ignores the Stick Gang once they start bowing before him due to his godlike powers.
- He makes amends with the Animator when he manages to kill the ViraBot and save his computer, peacefully nodding heads with each other.
- When the Second Coming does what he couldn't and defeats, potentially kills the Dark Lord, the Chosen One shows his respect by bowing before him.
- Despite running for his life and having no reason to do it, he still saved a random citizen from being crushed by a rock while escaping the Mercenaries.
- While getting the Second Coming to help him, once he saw that he couldn't do it and was in danger, he decides to save him and fight the Mercenaries himself, despite that ending badly.
- He refused to tell victim the Animator's location despite his awful history with him and the amount of torture he had to face before being investigated, even trying to give himself a concussion to stop Victim from browsing through his memories.
- While it's true he is as lethal as he was while still a villain, it's been shown that 1) he tried to calm down the Dark Lord and used force only when necessary 2) the ViraBots were mindless beasts with no moral agency, and thus had to be stopped with violence. Because of this, all his post-redemption kills make him a Righteous Killer, and not Minor Lethal. The exception is the one moment mentioned below.
- While one could say he fails the Admirable Standard as he needed help and the Second Coming is the one who dealt the final blow, it's worth to point out he carried the majority of the war with the Dark Lord as the Animator was around for only five minutes of it, while a superpowered Second Coming has higher resources than the Chosen One, as seen when he effortlessly defeats the Dark Lord while the Chosen One struggled against him.
- While it is true the Fighting Stick Figures did more with less resources, and the Second Coming managed to redeem several characters and prevent a different omnicide without using his powers, they have much more screentime then the Chosen One so it's not a fair comparison.
- While he foolishly put the Second Coming in danger by putting him against the Mercenaries while he did not know how to use his powers. This is subverted very quickly as he realizes that he put the Second Coming in danger and quickly attempts to rescue him.
What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]
- While he was never happy with it, he still nevertheless let the Dark Lord get away with rampaging across websites and killing thousands of innocents for seven years straight, even assisting him even if he was uncomfortable doing so. While he does atone for this by stopping his ViraBot plans, it's a case of doing too little too late, as by that point the damage has already been done. This is best showcased in Season 3, where the Chosen One's murder of Mitsi haunts him years later despite being uncomfortable with her death and having long redeemed by that point.
- He can be an arrogant jerk, as shown when he threw the Second Coming into danger against the Mercenaries cause he stubbornly refused to believe he can't use his powers.
Trivia[]
- He is the only Animator vs. Animation IA to not appear in the spin-off, Animation vs. Minecraft.
- The Chosen One has gone through what could be considered "moral scaling hell". At first, he was considered Inconsistently Admirable due to his lethality and berserker status, before being approved as Near Pure Good upon being decided he's not a berserker. He was then approved as Pure Good as all his post-redemption kills were justified and thus not lethal, until being rejected and returning to IA status as he wasn't confirmed to have felt remorse for his misdeeds.
- While the Chosen One is currently Inconsistently Admirable, this might change as his arc is still ongoing.
