Sonic the Hedgehog is the titular main protagonist of the 2003-2005 anime Sonic X, which is based on Sega's Sonic the Hedgehog franchise. He is a hedgehog creature from a parallel dimension who was stranded on Earth after a battle against the evil scientist Dr. Eggman.
In English, he was voiced by Jason Griffin. In Japanese, he was voiced by Jun’ichi Kanemaru.

Sonic X[]
- After arriving to Earth, he continuously defended Station Square and the rest of the world from villains.
- He formed a close bond with a human named Chris.
- He saved Cream and Cheese when they were imprisoned at a military base.
- He saved Amy, Tails, and Chris when they were captured by Dr. Eggman.
- He went out of his way to get a flower for Cream the Rabbit when she was feeling sad.
- He went to space to stop Dr. Eggman's satellite.
- He promised to take a human named Helen to the mountains, even passing up on meeting the president of the United States to do so.
- He saved Station Square from Chaos.
- He cried when he thought Chris was dead.
- While he is sometimes mean to Amy, he does care for her, saving her when she’s in peril, and fixing her bracelet she made for him.
- He helped stop the Ark from crashing into the Earth
- When Dark Oak arrived to steal the Chaos Emeralds, Sonic did his best to hold him off.
- When realizing Eggman disguised his ship as the Blue Typhoon so they could escape the Meterex, Sonic was genuinely grateful for what he did.
- Overall, Sonic was a major player in the battle against Dark Oak.
- Following Cosmo's sacrifice, he tried looking for her. When all he could find was her seed, he gave it to Tails and comforted him over her death, knowing well how much she meant to him.
What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]
- He has multiple moments of being a jerk and incredibly mischievous in ways that are too recurring for him to even be NPG unlike his game counterpart. He constantly taunts his enemies whenever they fight despite not having much of a reason to do so and takes way too much enjoyment in destroying Eggman's robots (who have shown sentience). He even acts this way towards his friends at times, most notably Knuckles (who is partially correct that Sonic fights mostly for the thrill of it) for his short temper and gullibility.
- There are times where he goes crazy and very paranoid if kept in place for too long due to boredom, the most notable example being "Cruise Blues".
- Said episode also shows he's willing to gaslight and lie to his friends to get what he wants, such as taking advantage of Tails' affection for his plane and Amy's love for him in order to go home, with Chris and Chuck notably calling out how unethical and cruel the latter action was. While he does learn to calm down and take it easy in the end, he never apologizes for his behavior, let alone feels bad about what he did.
- Granted while her affection towards him is discomforting at times, there are moments where he's extremely rude to Amy. At one point he promised to take her on a date but never went through with it, outright ignoring her at the end of the episode in favor of racing with Sam.
- He can be reckless, not considering his actions or even explaining his reasons beforehand (all of which have been called out by Knuckles).
- In “Chaos Control Freaks”, he gets flashy while trying to rescue Cream and Cheese from Eggman, causing everyone to be sent to Earth in the first place.
- While he was right Eggman was lying about the Egg Moon and that it should have been obvious, he chose to knock down the doctor’s sunshine towers, which were giving the planet alternative light and heat sources, before explaining himself, leading many to believe he went rogue from his animosity with Eggman.
- To keep Dark Oak from taking the Chaos Emeralds, he scattered them across the galaxy while in space as Super Sonic. The ill-thought act nearly killed him had Eggman not saved him and initially put everyone at a disadvantage against the Metarex.
