His Good Ranking[]
What Makes Him Admirable?[]
In General[]
- He loved his brothers very much, and after their death he sought to find and take revenge on their killers (namely Johnny Ringo, Jim Reed and Roscoe Bob Bryant). Although it took him 45 years to get revenge.
- He is very sympathetic and noble, because he often helps lawyers in the fight against dangerous criminals and punishes only those who deserve it, as well as saves the innocent. And even he kills violent criminals in a fair duel. For this, he was even called "Good" in the last duel with Butch and Sundance.
- Although he sometimes feuded with the lawyers, this does not make him a character from the Grey-Zone, since most often they were corrupt, and immediately opened fire to kill.
Background / Prologue[]
- As a beggar, he earned money for his brothers by first tending cattle and then winning money at a bar. And after his brothers were killed by bandits Johnny Ringo, Jim Reed and Roscoe "Bob" Bryant, he was deeply saddened by their deaths, and vowed to avenge them.
- He arrived in Abilene, where he went to a local bar, and there introduced himself as a famous headhunter, after which he began to tell his story to the bartender Ben, the waitress Molly, and three customers Dwight (later it turns out that this is a young Dwight Eisenhower), Jack and Steve.
- Although Jack often doubted the authenticity of his story, and even told him this openly several times, Silas still did not get mad at him, and only continued his story.
Story[]
- He helped Billy the Kid and his gang fight off corrupt Sheriff Pat Garrett.
- He was trying to save the stagecoach passengers from bandits.
- He destroyed the entire Cowboys gang, thereby putting an end to their numerous robberies and murders.
- He killed the criminal sheriff Henry Plummer, putting an end to his criminal activities.
- He defeated the famous murderer John Wesley Hardin in a fair duel, and sent him to prison.
- He killed the Dalton brothers, thereby preventing their numerous bank robberies.
- He prevented the Wild Gang from blowing up the bridge, thereby saving many passengers of the train, which would have collapsed.
- He destroyed the entire Wild Gang, ending their many brutal actions.
- He severely wounded Jesse James, thereby preventing him from robbing the train.
- He kept Frank James alive after he revealed Jim Reed's location to him.
- He killed Johnny Ringo and Jim Reed, thereby avenging the deaths of his brothers.
- He killed Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.
Epilogue[]
- He exposed the bartender Ben as Roscoe "Bob" Bryant when he talked too much, and after that Silas decided his fate.
- In Ending "Forgiveness," he forgives Roscoe Bob Bryant after seeing what a kind man he has now become. Silas also admits his shortcomings and advises Dwight Eisenhower and other visitors not to devote their entire lives to destroying the world with anger and hatred, after which he safely leaves the bar. By doing so, he redeemed his hatred and vindictiveness.
What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]
- He's still too lethal for NPG. Although almost all of his victims are dangerous criminals, he still goes too far. And even the shaman Gray Wolf warns him that he may drown in the poison of his anger and hatred.
- He is arrogant and tends to often exaggerate about his exploits, and even belittle the lawyers, saying that they would only get in his way.
- Some of his heroic deeds are motivated by selfishness, as he hunted some criminals just for the sake of a good reward.
- In Ending of "Revenge", he kills Roscoe Bob Bryant right in front of the bar patrons, thereby traumatizing their psyche and killing the now kind man. By doing this, he proved that he is no better than Bob, and even admits that he has killed more people than Bob in his entire life.
Trivia[]
- Outwardly, Silas is very similar to another Inconsistently Admirable heroes - The Man with No Name from the Dollar Trilogy (hence his nickname "Good" in the last duel), as well as John Marston from Red Dead Redemption (especially when Marston is wearing a poncho).
