NOTE: This page is only about the manga and Brotherhood version of Scar and don't includes Scar's admirable actions from 2003 anime version

Scar (スカー) is a major antagonist and later anti-hero in the Fullmetal manga and 2009 anime series.

Scar is a nameless lone serial killer and vigilante who targets State Alchemists for his own brand of lethal justice in accordance with the fundamental tenets of his religion and for the revenge of his slaughtered people and family. An Ishvalan survivor of the Ishvalan Civil War, Scar's moniker comes from the large X-shaped scar on his forehead and sports a conspicuous and intricate alchemical tattoo on his right arm, which originally belonged to his older brother, and which he uses as his murder weapon of choice. As the story progresses, Scar abandons his path of revenge and helps defeat Father and his homunculi.

His Good Ranking[]

What Makes Him Admirable?[]

  • As a monk-warrior during the Ishvalan War, he defended ishvalians against Amestrian soldiers.
  • He loved his brother and was devastated by his death.
  • His murder of Nina Ticker is in fact an act of mercy because her fate as chimera was worse than death. However, killing Shou Tucker is well deserved.
  • Scar feels pity for Alphonse when he learns that Al has lost his body.
  • He is extremly honorable. During his fight with Edward, he told him that he would not hurt Alphonse if he did not interfere in their fight, because Al is not a state alchemist. Later in their next battle, he allows Winry Rockbell to shoot him, claiming she has right to avenge her parents.
  • He cares for Mei what he proved many times. He helps her in finding her panda and he gives captured Envy to Mei because homunculus may be keeping the secret of the immortality she was looking for.
  • In Briggs he abandoned his path of revenge and helps stop the homunculi.
  • Along with Edward, he stops Roy from killing Envy.
  • He saved Amestrian alchemy by activating Alkahestric Reverse Circle.

What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]

  • Before his redemption, he commited many crimes and heinous actions. He was a serial killer who killed many state alchemists.
  • He killed Winry Rockbell's parents during his rampage, even though they saved him.
  • He tried to kill Edward Elric several times despite the fact that he was a child and did not participate in the genocide.
  • Even though he redeemed himself by finally admitting his guilt for his actions, it is still far too corruptive for him to qualify as Pure Good or Near Pure Good since he attempted homicide many times.
