| “ | I didn't want this power so I could fight Witches. I wanted it so I could have the strength to do what's right and protect the ones I love. You get it? If there are people out there who are worse than Witches, then I'm going to fight them. Especially if they're Magical Girls. | „ |

Sayaka Miki (美樹さやか) is the deuteragonist of the Puella Magi Madoka Magica franchise.
She is a second-year student at Mitakihara Middle School and the best friend of Madoka Kaname. She's a confident and spontaneous tomboy with a strong sense of justice, which leads her to accepting Kyubey's offer of becoming a magical girl faster than her closet friend.
She is voiced by Eri Kitamura in the Japanese version of the anime and by Sarah Anne Williams in the English version.
Her Good Ranking[]
What Makes Her Admirable?[]
- She helps Madoka in rescuing Kyubey from Homura.
- Making a wish with Kyubey in exchange heal Kyosuke Kamijo's fingers and becoming a magical girl in the process.
- She saves Madoka from H.N. Elly/Kirsten shortly after becoming a magical girl.
- After she becomes a magical girl, she saves countless people from witches.
- After Kyoko tried to discourage her from fighting a Familiar and instead allowing it to kill people and gain a Grief Seed, Sayaka was appalled by the latter magical girl's supposed callousness to the point where the two engaging in a battle against one another.
- She refuses to hunt down more witches because of the innocent people who would be involved after asking Kyubey if it is important to maintain the cleanliness of her Soul Gem.
- After being revived by Madoka, she, along with Mami and Kyoko, set off to fight and destroy Wraiths.
- She defeats the Nightmare than spawned from Hitomi and her feelings of frustration and purifying Hitomi herself afterwards.
- She helps Madoka and the other girls break Homura free from her witch form and cleanse her soul gem after the latter became Homulilly.
- Saving Homura following her battle with Mami.
- Unlike other Holy Quintets, she is aware that Homura had remade the universe to her own image, and she attempted to revert it back.
- While what Madoka and Homura did were more admirable, Sayaka, much like Kyoko and Mami, had far less resources than either of them. And she was far less experienced than the latter two, which allows her to stand out.
What Makes Her Inconsistent?[]
- She has a narrow black-and-white mindset where she thinks magical girls who fight witches to protect others are pure-hearted (such as Mami), whereas those who fight witches for themselves are evil (like Kyoko).
- She is also overconfident and often times can be very reckless towards battles.
- She can act like a jerk to Homura. In one timeline, she refuse to listen to Homura about the truth between magical girls and witches. This cause Homura to stop warning about them in the future timelines.
- She wrongly accused Madoka for standing by and watching her suffer, when Madoka was really trying to support her. While Sayaka did regret saying those things, it is still too severe and made her too much of a jerk.
- After learning that by making her wish to Kyubey, she effectively sold her soul and is now stuck fighting witches for all eternity if she doesn't die or outright become one, she becomes much more brutal in her methods of fighting said witches and more inconsiderate in general. It's even implied at one point that she killed two humans (though those people are pretty jerkish), and she brutally slaughters the witch Elsa Maria while smiling and laughing, which is too much of a corrupting quality to make her NPG.
- After succumbing to the despair of Kyosuke, the boy she gave up her life to heal, falling in love with Hitomi instead of her, combined with the disgust she felt at herself for expressing said jealousy towards them, she gives up her hope to save herself, even refusing Homura's offer to cleanse her Soul Gem, which eventually caused herself to turn into a witch.
- It was heavily implied that she murdered two passengers on the train, while the passengers were definitely sexist jerks who partially helped contribute to Sayaka's fall to despair, they didn't deserve to die and it's also implied that she also killed everyone on the train too.
Trivia[]
- She is one of the two heroes from the Puella Magi franchise to be Inconsistently Admirable, along with Homura Akemi.
- While Sayaka is currently Inconsistently Admirable, there's a chance this may change in the upcoming sequel to Rebellion, Puella Magi Madoka Magica: Walpurgisnacht: Rising.
