Sarah Kerrigan is one of the main characters in the Starcraft series. She is a former Confederate Ghost, turned lieutenant of the Sons of Korhal. After her betrayal at the hands of Arcturus Mengsk, she was captured and infested by the Zerg and turned into the Queen of Blades who became known as one of the worst mass murderers in human history. After her deifestation, she redeems herself and saves the universe by killing the Dark God, Amon.
Her Good Ranking[]
What Makes Her Admirable?[]
- She fought for the Sons of Korhal and their leader, Arcturus Mengsk, against the oppressive Confederacy because she wanted to save the people from their oppression and genuinely believed that Mengsk would make a better leader. She wasn't aware at the time that Mengsk would become a worse dictator.
- When Mengsk ordered the deployment of Psi-Emitters to lure the Zerg to defeat the Confederates which would lead to many deaths, Kerrigan tried to change his mind even if it was ultimately futile.
- In Heart of the Swarm expansion she allows a group of injured Dominion soldiers to escape and makes sure that her Zerg would let them go.
- She rescues her lover, Jim Raynor, from a prison ship.
- When she learns that she had conducted horrible experiments with humans during her time as the Queen of Blades, she forbids her servant, Abathur, from ever doing that again.
- She kills Samir Duran and destroys many of his laboratories where innocent beings are subjected to horrible, torturous experiments. Those facilities are used to create Hybrids which in turn would be used to wipe out all life in the universe and by destroying these facilities, Kerrigan helps a lot in the fight against Amon.
- She forbids her Zerg from killing the crew of the Hyperion.
- She forbids Abathur from killing Alexei Stukov and gives Stukov the choice to either stay with her or go on his way.
- She kills Arcturus Mengsk who is a NPE oppressive dictator and makes sure his son, Valerian Mengsk, who is a much more benevolent ruler than his father, would inherit him.
- At one point she teams up with Artanis and his army of Daelaam Protoss and helps them in their fight against Amon’s forces.
- She personally gathers all the other forces for the final fight against Amon. She personally fights against Amon, kills him and saves the entire universe from utter annihilation.
- Once she ascends as a Xel’Naga, she uses her godly powers to make sure that barren worlds that were devastated by the war would be seeded with life again.
- Thanks to her teachings, the Zerg Swarm becomes much more diplomatic and they start seeking peace with the other races instead of trying to kill them all like before.
What Makes Her Inconsistent?[]
- While her crimes as the original Queen of Blades don't count as corrupting factors in the present because her mind was corrupted by the Zerg then and later she shows regret over her actions once she is cured from her infestation, even when she regains control of her own mind, she is still willing to do a lot of bad things both to get revenge on Mengsk for abandoning her and to stay alive like killing an entire Protoss colony consisting of thousands, implanting a parasite inside a female Protoss and using her to massacre an entire ship, killing General Horace Warfield, endangering many civilians, infesting enemy soldiers to use as her own. In the end she fully redeems herself and saves the universe but there are certain actions she still feels were justified on her end like wiping out the Protoss colony because she had to stay alive and live long enough to get her revenge on Mengsk.
- She constantly has arguments with Valerian Mengsk because she doesn’t like for being Arcturus’ son. She destroys a large section of his lab to make a point on one occasion, she force chokes him and lifts him in the air with her telekinetic powers when he fails to rescue Jim Raynor and when two soldiers try to stop, she lifts them in the air and bashes them against the walls of the ship. In the end, she starts to respect Valerian and changes her mind about him but those scene still make her look like a jerk. Aside from that, when she meets Zeratul who is trying to help her acquire the power of Zerus, she first attacks him and beats him up without hearing him out first because she suspects he has come to kill her. Then, she still acts suspicious of him and doesn’t apologize for her past actions against him as the Queen of Blades. When they later meet and Zeratul is trying to rescue other Protoss from a lab, Kerrigan refuses to cooperate with him and just tells him to stay out of the way of her Zerg. Those scenes make her look like a jerk.
- In Heart of the Swarm she is obsessed with taking revenge on Mengsk for what he did to her and was willing to compromise her own morality to achieve it and in the end, she kills him in a pretty brutal way by impaling him with her wings to the war and injecting him with substance which causes his body to explode (though he deserved it).
