Nicomund, commonly known as Saint Nick or Santa Claus, is the main protagonist of the 2022 action-comedy movie Violent Night. He's a retired Viking who became Santa Claus hundreds of years ago and has since lost his love and passion for his job, drowning himself in alcohol and lacking motivation.
One night on Christmas Eve, while delivering presents to the Lightstone Family, he finds the family, including a young girl named Trudy, being held hostage by a group of mercenaries. With his previous fighting experience from his viking past, he must rescue them and kill the mercenaries' leading commander Jimmy "Mr. Scrooge" Martinez.
He was portrayed by David Harbour.
His Good Ranking[]
What Makes Him Admirable?[]
- He is first seen in a English bar, conversating with the bar maid and a mall Santa, and before leaving the bar he gives the bar maid a video game for her grandson that he had wanted for Christmas, and despite drunk he still makes it his mission to deliver all the presents to everyone in one night, and in one trip he gives a present to a little girl while she’s sleeping in a crib while giving her presumably alcoholic father a lump of coal as punishment and stealing his beer in the process.
- When the mercenaries break in to the Lightstone compound, he takes out the first mercenary when he falls out of the window and gets impaled by an ice pike, and while he did attack and kill him he did so out of self defense and didn’t expect him to be killed making this an accidental kill.
- Before leaving the compound he changes his mind and decides to stay behind and fight off the mercenaries one by one and save everyone, after realizing that there was a child being held hostage.
- He takes out the second mercenary and after getting beaten up by him he gets the upper hand, and without any other options grabs a Christmas Star decoration and impale his eye with it, and then he connects the cable of the star to electrocute him and finish him off.
- After that he grabs a radio transceiver and talks to Trudy Lightstone, and after knowing that she’s been a good girl for Christmas he tells her that he’ll take out the bad guys and save her and everyone else.
- After being asked by Trudy if he’s real, he reassures her by saying that he’s real and to not be too hard with her parents, and then after Trudy asks him if he stills loves Mrs. Claus he responds by saying that he still does, even if the magic does go away if you try to make somebody happy.
- After the extraction team arrives and are revealed to be evil he is about to give up, not until Trudy convinces him to not give up and think about what he wants most for Christmas that being Mrs. Claus, and once he finds a sledgehammer he takes it and uses it to take it each of the extraction team soldiers one by one with ease.
- After Trudy is found and eventually cornered by one of the female mercenaries, he whams her in the stomach with the sledgehammer saving Trudy in the process, and afterwards he tells her to turn around and cover her ears and sing Jingle Bells, while he finishes off the female mercenary by bashing her head with the sledgehammer offscreen.
- After leaving the house he goes outside and takes out one of the mercenaries about to leave on a snowmobile, and afterwards taking out another mercenary saving Jason Lightstone, and then grabbing a bed decoration from the nativity decoration outside of the house to use as a slay to catch up and save Gertrude Lightstone, from Jimmy and Thorp.
- After catching up to Jimmy he goes one on one with him for one final showdown, and after getting pressed to the outside chimney by Jimmy he uses his Christmas magic to send himself up the chimney along with Jimmy to finally finish him off once and for all.
- After being revived by the others he wakes up to find his reindeer there and while he is initially angry at them for leaving him behind, he then thanks them for coming back with his spare sack after Jimmy had burned his other one, and thanks Trudy for believing in him and reminding him that Christmas still matters and that he still matters, and afterwards getting on his sleigh and riding off into the moonlight and off to deliver the last remaining presents.
What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]
- As the name of the movie suggests he is extremely lethal, and pretty much kills all of his enemies in many gruesome ways, even if all of his kills were either out of self-defense or to save everyone.
- He does occasionally act like a jerk, like when he threw up on the barmaid (although it was because he was drunk and didn’t mean to threw up on her), urinating over Washington D.C. on his sleigh, and then stealing a dad’s pack of beers (although he mostly did this to punish him for being a drunk father), and not to mention he almost leaves the compound when the mercenaries break in, only deciding to stay upon realizing that there are hostages inside. However, these are all minor since he does seem to shed them off throughout the rest of the movie.
