~ Sam's most famous quote. |
Samuel Taylor, also known as Sam, is a major character in the Metro series, serving as a major character in Metro Exodus and the titular main protagonist of its story DLC Metro Exodus: Sam's Story.
Sam is a former U.S. Marine, who later became stranded in Moscow after World War III. He later worked as a member of the Spartan Rangers and Miller's bodyguard. He was one of the few Rangers to join in with Miller on escaping Moscow, before he separates himself with the Rangers after reaching Lake Baikal, before pursuing on his personal journey to find his father in San Diego.
His Good Ranking[]
What Makes Him Admirable?[]
Metro Exodus[]
- He joined Miller's team to escape Moscow, as he was one of the few to defect from the Hanza after uncovering the organisation's deceit.
- He and the rest of Miller's team rescued Miller, Artyom, and Anna, after they were held captive by the Doctor and the Cannibals inside of the Yamantau bunker.
Metro Exodus: Sam's Story[]
- Sam would later proceed to stop Klim (a PE villain) and his men from taking over the U.S.S. Mayflower and with Klim using its nukes, with the former plotting a genocidal attack against anyone else he shows clear dislike with through the submarine's nukes, regardless of his targets, in a petty attempt to incite nuclear war for his own intents and purposes.
- In the Captain's ending, Sam reluctantly followed Baranov's orders to destroy the U.S.S. Mayflower via detonating it completely, which disallows Tom to use its weapons to start a nuclear war. While his acts are considerably noble, which averted a possible nuclear war from sparking, he also sacrificed his way home to San Diego in the process, rendering him stuck in Vladivostok in the meantime. However, he reassured himself to find a way home through an alternative method.
What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]
- Like Artyom and Miller, Sam is also considerably lethal to be NPG, as he has no qualms to kill his enemies in a brutal way.
- During the finale of Sam's Story, it is unknown what ending in the DLC is considered to be canon, thereby making his fate at the end to be considerably ambiguous.
- In the Tom's ending, while Sam did not detonate the U.S.S. Mayflower, which in return allowed Tom to bring him back to San Diego in the United States, Sam's actions would presumably start a nuclear war, now that Tom has full control of its weapons.
Trivia[]
- His game counterpart only counts as Inconsistently Admirable, as his book counterpart not only makes a very brief, one-shot appearance, but he also fails the admirable standards to other heroes in the novel continuity including Artyom.
