Rei Hino (known as Raven "Raye" Hino in the DiC and Cloverway English dub) is one of the main protagonists of the Sailor Moon 1990's anime. She is the reincarnation of the Princess of Mars and the civilian identity of Sailor Mars. Rei is a Shinto priestess who works at the Hikawa Shrine. Rei's element is fire.
She is voiced by Michie Tomizawa in the original anime and Rina Satō from Sailor Moon Crystal. In English, she is voiced by Katie Griffin and Emilie Barlow in the DiC dub of the original anime followed by Cristina Vee in the Viz Media dub.

What Makes Her Admirable?[]
- Even before becoming a Sailor Scout, she fervently defended her grandfather from people who suspected him of kidnapping children.
- Becoming a Sailor Scout, she saved Sailor Moon and other abducted children from a demon.
- Having befriended Usagi, Ami, Makoto and Minako (Sailor Mercury, Sailor Mars, Sailor Jupiter and Sailor Venus, respectively), she did everything possible to fight off the Dark Kingdom with them.
- She became actively involved in the fight of Sailor Scouts against villains threatening the whole world, such as Black Moon Clan, Death Busters, Dead Moon Circus, and Shadow Galactica.
- She is deeply protective of her family members (in particular her grandfather), and is ready to take revenge on anyone who hurts them.
- Despite the fact that she often quarrels with Usagi, she actually loves her very much as a friend, and was even willing to sacrifice her life for her.
- When she saw the saddened Koan, she sympathized with her, and did not let the other Sailor Scouts kill her.
- Having seen visions in her dream of a certain dark force about to destroy all life on Earth, she informed the others about it, and began to worry about it.
- Her courage, the gift of precognition and the ability to exorcise spirits make her one of the strongest and most competent Sailor Scouts.
What Makes Her Inconsistent?[]
- She is very arrogant and jerk, and rude to everyone in almost every episode and often snaps at Usagi, insulting and humiliating her, even when she has no reason to, and was also ready to be rude to adults.
- She is very greedy and selfish, and was obsessed with everything from a Shinto priestess to a musical idol just for fame and fortune. Initially, she pursues Mamoru, just aiming for his wealth, much to Mamoru's annoyance.
- Sometimes she can be sadistic. She pinched Ami's ankle for voting for Usagi to become the leader instead of Rei. Ami was in a lot of pain, but Rei continued to sadistically pinch her, forcing her to take her side.
- She often showed physical violence, even towards her own grandfather, and sometimes towards Usagi, for example, once she viciously and irritably slapped her in the face after she cried.
- She is also often wrathful. She threatens Usagi for not coming to class, casting a murderous look at Usagi with ruthless, bloodthirsty eyes and sharp, carnivorous teeth.
- She is quite lethal, and severely punishes her enemies without offering her enemies a redeeming opportunity.

- Sailor Mars was originally approved as Near Pure Good but she was removed because she has too corrupting to qualify, and now she is Inconsistently Admirable.
