His Good Ranking[]
What Makes Him Admirable?[]
In General[]
- Though he started off as a selfish and self-centered person with an addiction to money, as the series progresses he learns to put others' interests and needs before his own and becomes a much better and heroic individual by the time of Crystalized.
- He only started his crooked path out of paranoia regarding his deal with Soul Archer.
- Despite the admirable standard of Ninjago being quite high, Ronin stands out for a number of reasons: He was vital in the defeat of Morro and was directly responsible for the Ninja saving Lloyd from Morro as he gave them the location of the tomb, he also played a pivotal role in the defeat of the Crystal King as he’s responsible for Zane’s repairs by taking him to Borg Tower allowing him to fight against the Crystal Army and also being the one who redeemed several former mayor villains.
Possesion[]
- When he was confronted by Morro, he tried to stall for the ninja by buying the Allied Armor of Azure.
- He saved Kai from drowning and told the ninja of a different way to learn airjitzu.
- Even though he did take the ninja’s share of the tea farm, it’s slightly justifiable since they destroyed his shop.
- He takes Nya to the Samurai X Cave and helps her fight the Ghost Warriors with his aeroblades.
- He saved Nya after her mech was possessed.
- He questioned Ghoultar alongside Wu and Nya.
- Even though he stole the sword of sanctuary from the ninja to save his soul from Soul Archer, he showed remorse for this and refused Morro’s new deal as he now saw the ninja as his friends which got him possessed and later abandoned by Morro.
- He sent R.E.X. to save the Ninja and provided them with the location of the First Spinjitzu Master’s tomb, allowing them to save Lloyd, and decided to distance himself from them because he cares about them.
- After seeing the Ninja were fighting Morro in Stiix he traveled there to help.
- He dumped all the money he made on his own shop which Morro was levitating, causing it to come crashing down.
- He helped civilians evacuate the city towards the aeroplanes.
- He fought Morro for the Sword of Sanctuary.
Skybound[]
- He was hired by the Ninjago Police to catch criminals that they couldn’t.
- After finding Jay’s message regarding Nadakhan, he and the commissioner saved Lloyd, Cole, and Nya from Tiger Widow Island.
- He helped the Ninja build the Raid Zeppelin 2.0.
- He joined Jay’s team to stop Nadakhan.
- He armed everyone with garden tools to fend off the sky pirates while Jay freed everyone trapped in the Djinn Blade.
- He took Jay’s team, Wu, and Misako back to Ninjago in a jet.
Day of the Departed[]
- He saved Jay, Ed, and Edna from a resurrected Samukai.
- He helped Jay take down the remaining Skulkin.
Hands of Time[]
- He helped Misako and Dareth move the Ninja’s belongings to their new HQ.
- He warned the Ninja about the arrival of the Vermillion.
- He helped fight the Vermillion army but had his leg accidentally broken by Dareth.
Prior to Sons of Garmadon[]
- He took Kai and Zane to the tomb of the First Spinjitzu Master during their search for Wu.
- Still trying to clear his name, he made a deal with the commissioner to run a criminal reform school, which was also partially designed to stall the rising threat of the Sons of Garmadon.
Hunted[]
- He was arrested for supporting the Ninja against Emperor Garmadon’s new rule.
- He becomes overjoyed to hear that the Ninja have returned.
- He works with Karlof and Griffin Turner to break free from his cell.
- He defeats the Sons of Garmadon stationed to guard them and helps free other prisoners before heading for the city to help the Ninja.
- He helped bring down the Colossus.
March of the Oni[]
- He returned to the monastery to celebrate the ninja’s victory over the Oni.
The Island-Seabound[]
- Years later he is shown to still be helping the police catch several criminals, including Fugi-Dove.
- Despite temporarily returning to villainy during The Island, he got a parole so he could attend Nya’s memorial after she became one with the sea, showing despite everything he still truly cares for the ninja as his friends.
Crystalized[]
- He defends the Ninja from other inmates that believe they have already lost.
- He redeems himself for good this time by choosing to fight by the ninja instead of taking the chance to return to crime.
- He convinces several other criminals, including Ultra-Violet and Killow, to assist the ninja.
- He steals a prison bus and saves P.I.X.A.L. and Zane, taking them to Borg Tower so the dismantled Zane can be repaired.
- He joins the resistance in a new Mechanized armor to fight the Crystal King’s army.
- He takes part in the final stand against the Crystal Zombies, fighting until he himself temporarily becomes one before being cured after the Overlord’s defeat.
- He assists the Ninja in rebuilding the Monastery.
What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]
- He is On & Off, as he did return to villainy at times, such as when he hunted the Ninja for the police only for money, due to being framed for crimes by Nadakhan, despite knowing that they are innocent, or when he tried to steal from the Ed & Edna Scrap N Junk before changing his mind when he saw that Jay and his adoptive parents were attacked by Samukai and during the Island by using escaped inmates as henchmen to build a fake Wojira and terrorize the Keepers to exploit them of their treasures.
- While he is last seen helping the Ninja stop the Overlord from trying to corrupt the powers of Creation to destroy the sixteen realms, there is no indication that he redeemed himself or felt remorse for all of his crimes.
- He is very jerkish towards most characters, even close friends, as he tried to start a prison fight with the Ninja.
- He is an anti-hero, as he commonly just took the best paying job from either side, and he doesn't get enough screen-time to fully subvert it.
- He is too lethal for NPG, being fully willing to kill his foes, unlike the Ninja, and actually trying several times.
Trivia[]
- Ronin, Lord Garmadon and General Arcturus are currently the only Ninjago characters to be Inconsistently Admirable.
- His Shadow of Ronin counterpart can't qualify due to having done nothing heroic.
