His Good Ranking[]
What Makes Him Admirable?[]
- In the first two films, he busted several ghosts, some of which were genuinely malevolent such as the Scoleri Brothers
- In the first film, he defeated Gozer in its Stay Puff Marshmellow man form, preventing it from destroying the world
- In the second film, he rescued Dana’s infant son Oscar and defeated Vigo, while also preventing the latter from posing the former and taking over the world
- In afterlife, he helped Egon’s granddaughter Phoebe defeat Gozer for good
- In frozen empire, he helped the new generation Ghostbusters defeat Garaka and prevent him freezing/killing all of humanity.
- He was the one who came up with the idea to Ray and Egon of making a business for themselves involving catching ghosts.
- Successfully convinced the Mayor that the supernatural stuff that was happening was real to let him, Ray, Egon, and Winston go, thus allowing them to later defeat Gozer in the climax of the first film.
- Despite being a bit of sleaze, when the Zuul possessed Dana tried to seduce, he refused to advantage of her.
- As the films progresses, he becomes more nicer and less rude.
What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]
- He has many jerkish moments, especially in the first film where he shocks one of his male students while testing a mind game. In general, he usually makes snide and rude remarks, even towards his friends sometimes (mainly Ray).
- He can be petty as shown by him threatening to release Slimer after the hotel manager who called them when refused to pay them $5,000, but they were running low on money.
- He is a bit of lazy sleazy con man, as prior to becoming a ghostbuster, he used his knowlege in parapsychology and psychology as an excuse to flirt with his female students and get paid while Ray and Egon did most of the work.
- He has a very standoffish and antagonistic relationship with Walter Peck, especially after he attempts to shut the power grid off, with him constantly insulting him, most notably his famous “this man has no d!ck” line. However, considering how Peck was acting rude to him and had brought no proper warrant beforehand and later caused all the ghost to run free while blaming the Ghostbusters instead, this is somewhat justified and a minor prevention in comparison to his other negative qualities.
- Although he does become nicer as the films progress, he still retains his snarkiness and never really express remorse for his jerkish behavior.
Trivia[]
- He and Egon Spengler are the only original Ghostbuster characters to be Inconsistently Admirable.
