NostalgiaSquare (known as Dyaboy in the first three seasons and sometimes simply known as NS) is the titular anti-heroic main protagonist of the NostalgiaSquare franchise. He is a kind yet hot-headed immortal Scratcher who has misadventures with his friends, and an adventurer who goes on numerous quests to save and help people. He is also fond of his friends, especially Green Square.
In the web-series NostalgiaSquare, He serves as the main protagonist of every season and is the only character to appear in every episode. Most notably, he's the main protagonist of The Erythros Arc, The Outlaw Arc, The Depressed Arc, and the main protagonist of the Post-Climax Episodes. Outside of the mainline series, He is a supporting character in Devil's CarnEVIL 2.0, The OC Popstars Arc, and is more than likely to be the main protagonist of the upcoming television series based on the NostalgiaSquare web-series.
He is voiced by Benjamin Carbone, who also voices Green Square and Red Circle in the same series and in Life of a Square, as well as many other characters in the series. However, in some episodes, he is voiced by Ivona Joey.
His Good Ranking[]
What Makes Him Admirable?[]
- He is generally nice to the people around him and cares about them very deeply, even if they can be annoying sometimes.
- He saved Chimney Boy from dying in outer space in the episode NostalgiaSquare: The Party Goes On.
- In NostalgiaSquare: Home Media Mayhem, he saved ScratchHood from being permanently conquered by both Fallen Star and Cuphead.
- He comforts Green Square whenever he doesn't feel in the best mood.
- While he does threaten to kill his partygoers a few times in NostalgiaSquare: The Party Goes On, he does grow out of this later on in the episode.
- Despite making his contestants suffer in NostalgiaSquare And The Epic Challenge, he didn't really mean to do that and never seemed sadistic or directly careless in the first place while making the game.
- Although he sometimes shows signs of having anger issues, he always feels remorseful of it.
- He was shown to have learn the errors of his way and forcefully redeemed himself for the better.
- He is benevolent and invites everyone to his parties.
- He defeated Chimney Creep along with Green Square in The Upsetting Feeling, even though Green Square was the one who killed him.
- He finally payed his taxes in NostalgiaSquare: Across The Universe of Madness, which made Starboy stop antagonizing him, even though they still aren't in the best terms.
- He defeated Erythros for destroying ScratchHood alongside Fallen Star and recovered Scratch Town alongside Seth.
- He defeated the power-hungry Blue Fallen Star for destoying ScratchHood and trying to bring everyone to his own "justice" alongside Green Square, Molly, Cuphead, Quadwheel, Fallen Star, Starboy, and Chryso.
- While he is cowardly in certain episodes, he was not one of the people panicking and screaming enough in the episode "Here We Go Again!"
- He stood up to Iris for destroying Scratch Town in the episode, "Slice of Life".
- He is shown to be good friends with Scratch Cat and helped him plan a Behavior Card Day.
- Although he is taken seriously sometimes, there are many moments where he keeps the tone light-hearted and comedic.
What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]
- One of the main reasons he cannot count as Near Pure Good is in that he acts like a jerk far too often, most notably in NostalgiaSquare: The Party Goes On, where he threatens to kill his friends in a total of 6 or 7 times. However, he does regret acting like one, so this is a minor prevention.
- He is so impulsive, thoughtless and stupid, he can be considered amoral. However, he does know what is right and what is wrong and he has shown intelligence and kindness on many occasions, so this is a minor prevention.
- He is on & off, as there are several episodes where he can be an antagonist.
- He tried to kill Bubblegum12345e and HealthyJacob1 just for ruining his life. However, killing Bubblegum12345e might be justified as Bubblegum12345e intended to harm NostalgiaSquare to begin with. However, HealthyJacob1 didn't want anything to do with Nostalgiaquare and was caught in the crossfire.
- He launched a baby into outer space with a slingshot in one episode, which could be considered infanticide.
- After Starboy keeps ringing the doorbell and not shutting up about him not paying his taxes. He starts setting a trap and using a Banzai Bill to chase him and possibly kill him for being annoying.
- He has an extremely bad temper, and as such, he is very wrathful, as there are many episodes where he gets angry easily and can lash out at others when pissed off enough.
- He assaulted Seth with a watermelon in the episode NostalgiaSquare Vs Stickmin when he did nothing wrong, which caused him to get a punishment from Seth two episodes later in Don't Deal With Dave. In fact, this has caused Seth to have PTSD whenever watermelons are involved, which only makes things worse.
- He is somewhat of an anti-hero, as a good amount of his goals are done for selfish reasons.
- He is responsible for Sue becoming a villain, as after he said squares are much better than rectangles, Sue saw this as offensive to her race, and then suffered PTSD and starting to become vengeful.
- He is also responsible for DarkHead becoming a villain, due to killing Cuphead (albeit temporarily) and Mugman.
- He is prone to being lethal in order to solve his problems, and while he did subvert this somewhat, it's still presented in several later episodes.
- He lied to many people about completely mellowing out, as he still retains some of his negative traits he had in the previous seasons.
- He bullied NostalgiaSquareBross when he was younger by laughing at him for wearing a dunce cap.
