~ Neytiri to Jake Sully, also her most famous quote. |
Neytiri te Tskaha Mo'at'ite, or also known as Neytiri, is the deuteragonist of the Avatar franchise, who serves her heroic role in Avatar, and a major character in the sequel Avatar: The Way of Water, returning in some capacity in the upcoming Avatar 3.
She is a Na'vi who formed Jake Sully a relationship after saving him from Pandoran wildlife. Initially, she blamed Jake for his reckless behavior against wildlife, later lecturing and teaching him the generic skills of Na'vi hunters, after taking him in as an Ometikayan native. She (along with Jake) is also a participant in the War on Pandora against the RDA to protect her kind and family, which is still ongoing to this day. During this war, she survives a family of four (Neteyam, Lo'ak, Tuktirey, and adopted daughter Kiri) and her husband Jake until her eldest son's unfortunate passing.
She is portrayed by Zoe Saldaña.
Her Good Ranking[]
What Makes Her Admirable?[]
Avatar (2009)[]
- The moment she was introduced, she saved Jake from a pack of viper wolves.
- She invited Jake for sanctuary and hospitality in the Ometikaya clan.
- She trained Jake and showed him the ways of Na'vi.
- She tried to save Grace Augustine's life with the Tree of Souls, which didn't work, unfortunately.
- She participated in the Battle of the Hallelujah Mountains against the RDA to prevent the humans from obliterating the Tree of Souls, the sacred network of Pandora to Eywa, and the shelter of the remaining Ometikaya clan.
- She stopped RDA's advancements against Na'vi by killing Miles Quaritch, simultaneously saving Jake and Na'vi from further harm by him.
- She saved Jake from suffocating to death when the window broke, and the Earth air was let out.
Avatar: The Way of Water[]
- She reassured Jake that he needs to stop being too harsh on Lo'ak and Neteyam, even knowing they would've potentially lost their sons.
- She took her children away from the Ometikaya clan to keep them safe from war, and while she did leave her people, she was very remorseful for it.
- She tried to comfort Kiri when she wasn't feeling happy.
- She went after her daughter Tuk when she was sucked down a hole in the S-76 SeaDragon.
What Makes Her Inconsistent?[]
- She is quite jerkish on some occasions, such as blaming Jake for being attacked by the viper wolves and calling him a baby.
- She has poor anger management as she quickly gets frustrated with people.
- She is unwelcoming and distrustful towards Spider just because he's a human and the son of Quaritch despite his loyalty to the Na'vi, and is against his father's ways.
- After losing her eldest son Neteyam, she flew into a rage, killing the RDA soldiers and Avatar recombinants who crossed her path, making her too lethal and wrathful to be Near Pure Good or Pure Good.
- Within the exact poetic moment of losing her son, she threatened Quaritch that she would kill Spider to make him let Kiri go and act like she actually would've done it, stating, "A son, for a son." While she did this to save Kiri's life she felt no remorse for doing it and her saying “A son for a son” kind of implies she was partially doing to spite Quaritch.
- This could make Neytiri a bit of an extremist too.
