Oh, Crap!
~ Nathan's catchphrase and his most famous line.
As thrilling as the next adventure may be, in the end, you’re always left with that same feeling.
~ Nate, informing Sam that no matter how exciting the next adventure he goes on might be, he will always feel unsatisfied with the outcome.

Nathan Drake is the main protagonist of the Uncharted franchise. He is a wisecracking treasure hunter that goes on dangerous adventures with his long time partner, Victor Sullivan. One day however, Nathan meets a woman named Elena Fisher who he starts to grow feelings for, but due to Elena wanting him to let go of his obsession with treasure hunting, Nate eventually lets go of it despite their normal lives being mundane at the same time. After Sam Drake (Nathan's older brother) forced Nate to come out of retirement, and eventually Elena too, the two of them realized how much they missed their old treasure hunting days, so they start using the money that Sam had snuck into Elena's coat to start treasure hunting again, but in a legal way.

He was voiced and motion captured by Nolan North, and in the film, he was portrayed by Tom Holland.

His Good Ranking[]

What Makes Him Admirable[]

Background[]

  • After realizing that Sullivan had survived getting shot, Nate decided to go and rescue him from Roman and Navarro.
  • He tries to save Eddy Raja's life during the two's battle against the Descendants of El Dorado despite the two being enemies after Eddy pulled into a hole in the ground by a descendant of El Dorado.
  • After he notices Elena had been captured by Atoq and Roman, he fights his way through many mercenaries so that he could rescue her.
  • He stops Navarro from selling El Dorado on the black market for money, which could have caused the zombie apocalypse if it was sold to the wrong person.

Uncharted 2: Among Thieves[]

  • He saves Jeff from dying after he and Elena were shot at, until Lazarevic would soon find them and kill Jeff in front of Elena just to show his ruthlessness.
  • He was willing to fight a small army of Lazarevic's men and Lazarevic's lieutenant, Draza so that he could rescue Chloe.
  • He goes on a dangerous expedition with Tenzin in order to find information about the Cintamani Stone and saves Tenzin's life after he was nearly killed by a snow beast.
  • He stops Zoran's siege on the Tibetan village and tries to save as many of the villagers as he can.
  • After seeing that Schafer had been captured by Lazarevic, he and Elena make it their goal to rescue him.
  • Reluctantly works with Harry in order to save both Elena and Chloe's lives after being blackmailed by Lazarevic.

  • When Elena is injured by a grenade that Harry threw at Nate, Elena, and Chloe, Nate and Chloe protect Elena from the soldiers that start shooting at them.
  • He goes back to fight Lazarevic by himself in order to prevent him from becoming immortal and taking over the world. Even when Lazarevic had become immortal by the time Nate found him, Nate still attempted to defeat him regardless and was successful.

Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception[]

  • Saves Cutter and Sullivan's lives when they are held at gunpoint by one of Talbot's men.
  • Saves Sullivan's life when he almost falls to his death in the burning chateau.
  • After Cutter breaks his leg after a fall, Nate, Chloe, and Sullivan all help him escape from Marlowe's goons and make it to safety, despite Cutter wanting them to abandon him momentarily.
  • He is willing to escape captivity and fight through all of Ramses men in order to save Sullivan despite being heavily outnumbered.
  • He and Elena sneak into an airport so Nate can sneak into one of Marlowe's cargo planes and save Sullivan from captivity.
  • He works with Salim and his tribe in order to save Sullivan from a convoy and stop Marlowe and Talbot from reaching Iram of the Pillars.
  • After Sully is beaten down and thrown into the water, Nate immediately jumps in to rescue him and shoots the equipment that Marlowe and Talbot are using to collect the water and the pillar that is supporting Iram in order to force them to retreat instead of getting the hallucinogenic water.
  • Even after everything she did, Nate still attempts to save Marlowe when she is slowly being swallowed by quicksand, failing as Marlowe lacked the strength to pull herself out of it.
  • Saves Sully's life from Talbot after he beats him down and attempts to push him off an edge.

  • He and Sullivan drive down to the convoy that Sam is getting chased by and Nate then decides to shoot all the cars that are chasing Sam and then tries to get Sam to jump in his car so they can escape before he is ambushed by a combat truck.
  • Saves himself and Elena from a trap that involves exploding mummies by cutting the trap with a sword.
  • After noticing Sam is pinned down by a bunch of Shoreline mercenaries, he and Elena save his life and the three of them subsequently escape and meet up with Sullivan later on.
  • Goes back to save Sam after he wants to see the treasure hunt through to the end and complete their mothers work.
  • He fights Rafe with a sword in order to save Sam and the two of them make it out alive after Nate successfully kills Rafe, even after Sam told Nate to leave him.
  • He gives Sam advice on no matter how exciting his next adventure will be, he will never be satisfied with the reward in the end.

What Makes Him Inconsistent[]

  • Nathan is an anti-hero as he does do heroic things at times, but is mainly driven by thrill seeking and personal interest and can be morally questionable, as he decides to go behind Elena's back about helping Sam with his debt and even lied about it, rather then just telling her about it, steals things left and right for his and his partner's benefit rather then due to a heroic intent, and when he and Sam broke into a random house just to get their mother's journals despite knowing it was wrong and they could potentially get caught by the police.
  • While a lot of his kills are in self defense, Nathan is still willing to kill a lot of people while making callous remarks at his enemies sometimes and Nathan makes the first shot at times towards his enemies.
  • He can have some self-serving and jerk-ish moments, as he was willing to let Lazarevic and Navarro get what they wanted if it meant he didn't have to keep putting his life in constant danger, even telling Lazarevic to go to hell, calling Roman an a**hole and when he even makes a rude mom joke to one of his co-workers.
