“ | So thou art the creature causing the ether of this world to ripple and warp. It has been an age since I have made the acquaintance of a new sort of idol. Continue in this fashion, and we shall meet again hence. If not, be thankful for our meeting now. | „ |
~ The Mystic Seller during a random encounter with the Lamb. |
“ | I seek the newly appointed god, successor of their victims, last of their kind. Confer with me. Fickle beast, do you not feel how the boundary betwixt this world and the next has began to fray? You are artless in your duties, Infant God. You bestow upon the Bishops' death, yet deny them rest. Bearer of the Red Crown, set this right. Forced are they to relive their final agonies; move them on, as is your duty as the new God of Death. | „ |
~ The Mystic Seller to the Lamb, telling them that the Bishops are in a state between life and death. |
The Mystic Seller is the overarching protagonist of the 2022 roguelike action-adventure game Cult of the Lamb. They are a mysterious entity that helped the Bishops of the Old Faith to raise to power and now wants to ensure the Lamb does their job as the new God of Death.
Their Good Ranking[]
What Makes Them Admirable?[]
- They sent the Lamb on a mission to save the Bishops of the Old Faith from a state where they couldn't pass on and were forced to relive their final moments of agony, effectively saving them from a fate worse than death.
- They continuously help the Lamb by giving them things in exchange of God Tears.
- By the time the Lamb completes their mission the Mystic Seller gives them their full respect and rewards them with either a statue of The One Who Waits or by reviving The One Who Waits himself, depending on whether the latter was killed by the Lamb or not.
- While they get mad when the Lamb tries to enter their domain, they don't really do much beyond moving them away via telekinesis.
What Makes Them Inconsistent?[]
- They are the one who helped all five Bishops to raise to power in the first place, essentially making them responsible for all their crimes. What's worse is that they clearly don't care about the crimes the Bishops have committed while ruling over the Lands of the Old Faith.
- They don't care what the Lamb does to the four Bishops after having converted them into mortals, nor do they care of what the Lamb decides to do with The One Who Waits.
