Mugman (The Cuphead Show!)

Mugman is the deuteragonist of The Cuphead Show.

He is voiced by Frank Todaro in the original English version, and Kensho Ono in the Japanese dub.

In the very first episode, Mugman protected Cuphead from having his soul taken by The Devil. He also tricks the devil into shooting his own soul ball, freeing other captured souls.
In an effort to keep the Devil from stealing Cuphead's soul, Mugman knits him an invisible sweater and does everything he can to keep him from taking it off.
When Cuphead DOES take the sweater off and is at the verge of having his soul pulled out by The Devil, Mugman finds the sweater and forces it on the Devil to save Cuphead.
He helps Brinybeard briefly unite with Cala Maria before they all run from her trying to eat them.
Even after Cuphead's reckless behavior of launching things with rockets gets them lost in the woods, Mugman is willing to help him, which does admittedly bite him hard when Cuphead takes advantage of that kindness to hurt him again.
When he is kidnapped by the Devil, he maintains faith that Cuphead will come rescue him, remaining optimistic the whole way.
When the brothers believe Baby Bottle to be taken by a bear, Mugman feels the need to save him pointing out that no matter how evil Baby Bottle is, he is still a baby.

He can be just as disobedient as Cuphead every now and then, joining Cuphead in going to a carnival when they are supposed to be getting materials to fix a fence.
He lied about being sick just so he would have some alone time to read a book.
While Mugman isn't as horrible as Cuphead, he is still heavily prone to outbursts and can be violent when angered as he straight up attacks an ice cream man who had been bothering him all day.
He is prone to envy such as when he sets up a piano trap to hurt Cuphead when Cuphead displays musical talent. The trap even still ends up being accidentally used on a different target when Cuphead steps down willingly (namely because said target plagiarized Cuphead's music, which while karmic, the action is still too lethal).
When he is calmly waiting for Cuphead to save him, the Devil attempts to break him by saying that Cuphead died and went to Heaven. Mugman's response is to say that he knows Cuphead well enough to know that he isn't dead if he didn't end up in the Underworld. While this has a bit of a zigzag to it, the fact that Mugman has no faith in Cuphead going to Heaven is rather harsh.
He has multiple moments of acting like a jerk to Cuphead and several of the side characters, although to be fair, Cuphead causes a lot of trouble for him, so it's kind of justified.

He is the only character in the Cuphead franchise to be Inconsistently Admirable.
