~ Morgana explaining the Phantom Thieves' motivation to Akira Konoe's Shadow. |
Morgana, codenamed Mona in the Metaverse, is the deuteragonist and one of the party members of the Persona 5 sub-series within the Persona series.
He is a cat-like being who was created by Igor in order to help Ren Amamiya change the hearts of many criminals and defeat the overarching antagonist Yaldabaoth. After being freed from being imprisoned in Suguru Kamoshida's palace, he decides to teach Ren and Ryuji Sakamoto about the Metaverse. Later, the three, along with Ann Takamaki, officially forms the Phantom Thieves of Hearts, with Morgana serving as the second in command.
He is voiced by Ikue Ōtani in the original Japanese version, and by Cassandra Lee Morris in the English version.
His Good Ranking[]
What Makes Him Admirable?[]
- After he was freed in Kamoshida's Palace, he teaches Ren and Ryuji Sakamoto about how the Metaverse functions.
- Helped stopped Suguru Kamoshida, a corrupt PE Teacher who is all but said to have raped various female students including Ann's best friend Shiho Suzui, to the point she attempted suicide, Ichiryusai Madarame, a corrupt art teacher who is responsible for Yusuke's mother's death as well as abusing his own students, to the point of one committing suicide, Junya Kaneshiro, a mafia boss who tried to rape Makoto, Kunikazu Okumura, a corrupt president of a big company who tried to force to force his daughter to marry an unpleasant and arrogant creep, Masayoshi Shido, the mastermind behind most of the game's events as well as being indirectly responsible for the death of countless people, mostly by ordering his own illegitimate son Goro Akechi to murder them using the Metaverse, and Yaldabaoth, a false god who orchestrated the game's events, such as being the one to give the protagonist and Akechi the ability to use the Wild Card function, and tried to wipe out humanity and trapped humanity in a totalitarian state.
- He was the one to tell the Phantom Thieves about Mementos, where they can change the heart of less big targets. This also helps them in the game's final act (second-to-last in Royal) when go down and eventually face Yaldabaoth.
- He helped stopped Goro Akechi in Shido's palace.
- In Persona 5 Royal, he helps defeat Takuto Maruki and return reality to normal.
- In Persona 5 Strikers he helped stopped more criminals, most notably Akira Konoe, a CEO of a multi-billion dollar IT company who acted as a Knight Templar all the while he ruined many peoples' live and tried to enslave everyone using EMMA, Kuon Ichinose, the creator of EMMA, and EMMA itself, who used countless people for its own gain in attempt to enslave the world.
What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]
- He can be very arrogant and even an egotist. For example, he has lines in battle where he boasts about how great he is, and even insults Skull when he misses. Even during the Okumura arc when he supposedly mellows out a little, he still has these boastful lines.
- He has quite a bit of jerk moments, particularly towards Ryuji. He constantly berates and insults him throughout the first game (although their relationship has gone a bit better).
- He hypocritically calls Ryuji out for wanting to use the Phantom Thieves' name to pick up girls when he was using the Phantom Thieves' name for his own benefit as well, which is something Ryuji rightfully calls him out on.
- He can act pretty perverted towards Ann Takamaki. While most of the time it's generic simping, it can go too far at times, such as in Mementos dialogue where he talks about the "tender feeling" of her butt, telling Ann to repeat what she said when she mentions about feeling a bit tight in the chest saying that it sounded like “vital information” and, during the Futaba arc, after Ann calls Ryuji out for creepily staring at her, Morgana says at least he didn't too, to which Ann points out that it's not because he didn't but because he couldn't because he was transformed into the Mona car. Morgana doesn't say anything as he realizes she is right.
- Due to losing a lot of his memories, he was kind of acting like a know-it-all in the Metaverse until Makoto and Futaba prove that they do a better job at being the strategist and navigator of the team.
Trivia[]
- He's the only Phantom Thief to be Inconsistently Admirable apart from Goro Akechi as the other members are either Near Pure Good or Pure Good.
