Mona Sax is a minor character in Max Payne, and the deuteragonist in Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne. She a contract assassin from New York, who had a love relationship with with former NYPD Detective Max Payne.
She is voiced by Julia K. Murney and performed by Carol Kiriakos in the first game. In Max Payne 2, she is voiced by Wendy Hoopes and performed by Kathy Tong.

What Makes Her Admirable?[]
In General[]
- Although she is an assassin, she does not kill "good guys" by her own admission, and does it only with those who deserve it.
- She sincerely loved her sister Lisa, and therefore hated Angelo Punchinello for abusing her.
- She sincerely fell in love with Max, and therefore refused to kill him until the last, and even later their relationship became very close.
Max Payne[]
- Although she was hired by Nicole Horne to kill Max Payne, she did not do so, and when she met him at Lupino's club, she even told him about Punchinello's involvement in the Valkyrie drug case.
- After meeting Max for the second time in the Aesir Corporation building, she again refused Nicole Horne's order to kill him, after which she was injured, but survived and fled.
Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne[]
- She started a war with crime boss Vladimir Lem to prevent him from killing Alfred Woden and taking his place in the Inner Circle.
- She killed many Cleaners when they carried out their contract killings.
- She killed Sebastian Gate after he defected to Vladimir Lem.
- After learning that she and Max had been ordered, she came to his house and told him about it, and also offered him cooperation.
- Together with Max, she went to the Upper East Side building to find a member of the Inner Circle, Corcoran, who would help them in the fight against Vlad.
- She protects Max from the Cleaners during their attack on the Funhouse.
- She helped Max fight off the Cleaners at the Castling Construction Site by covering him with a sniper rifle. As Max admitted, without Mona's help, he would have been dead at that moment.
- She exposed Winterson as a traitor, which she convinced Max of.
- When she saw the remains of Vinnie Gognitti, she sympathized and mourned for him.
- When she found Max injured, she woke him up.
- She and Max went to the Woden mansion to prevent Vladimir Lem from killing him.
- When Woden ordered her to kill Max, she couldn't do it because of her love for him, after which she was shot by Vlad.
What Makes Her Inconsistent?[]
- She is On & Off, because she also committed many villainous deeds, such as numerous contract killings and participation in the conspiracy of the Inner Circle.
- She is excessively lethal and cold-blooded, killing many people without remorse. Moreover, she has one of the largest numbers of kills in the game.
- Sometimes she can be harsh, like when she called Max a psycho, or Vinnie a bastard.
- She's put Max through multiple mental and physical troubles, due to her assassin lifestyle and vengeful attitude.
