Merlin (マーリン), also known as the Daughter of Belialuin and the Boar Sin of Gluttony, is one of the two tritagonists (Alongside Ban) of the anime/manga/light novel series The Seven Deadly Sins and one of the two overarching protagonists in its sequel Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. She is a member of the Seven Deadly Sins and is regarded as the greatest mage in Britannia. Her Sacred Treasure is the Morning Star Aldan, a floating orb she can summon at will and often uses in conjunction with her spells and her inherent power Infinity.
She is voiced by Maaya Sakamoto in the Japanese version, and by Lauren Landa in the English dub.
Her Good Ranking[]
What Makes Her Admirable?[]
- Joined the Seven Deadly Sins and stopped various threats.
- Helped save Escanor from his depression and loneliness by letting him join the Seven Deadly Sins and teaching him to use his powers for good.
- Mentored Arthur Pendragon at a young age, which taught him to use his powers for the good of others. She also allowed him to see hit maternal figure, Rosa, one more time.
- Saves Liones from Grayroad (a Gray Demon trying to turn the innocent townspeople into Demons) by sealing him away, which causes Fraudrin (another Demon) to flee.
- Defeats Derrochio, one of the Six Knights of Black trying to destroy the Celestial Realm.
- Gave Meliodas advice on how to kill the Demon King for good.
- Kisses Escanor before his death after he confesses to her despite the fact that he is burning and gives her a permanent scar on her jaw.
What Makes Her Inconsistent?[]
- She is very arrogant in general and regularly performs experiments on less powerful beings and refers to them as Guinea Pigs.
- She tricked The Demon King and Supreme Deity into both giving her a grace if she offered to join them, not joining either of them. This caused them to team up and unleash a reign of fire on the town of Belialuin for 1000 days, which Merlin has showed no signs of remorse over.
- While she does care for them to an extent, she used the Seven Deadly Sins for her own gain since the very beginning to enact her goals. Part of this was purposefully allowing Meliodas to become the Demon King's vessel and refusing to break the curse on Elizabeth.
