NOTE: This article is about the Japanese Generation One version of Megatron as his American Cartoon counterpart is Pure Evil and all of his Admirable acts were done out of pragmatism. Thus, only information on Megatron from the Japanese Generation One Continuity should be listed here. |

~ Megatron's initial redemption as he calls of the War |
Megatron, sometimes known as Galvatron, is the main antagonist and later the overreaching protagonist of the Transformers Japanese Generation One Continuity.
Unlike his American Generation One counterpart, this version of Megatron would redeem himself for the better and become a true hero where he would build a better future with his former archenemy Optimus Prime.
His Good Ranking[]
Debated Validations[]
- The Japanese Generation One timeline is a massive train-wreck of a continuity with many continuity errors and plotholes which was explained in-universe by Ask Vector Prime due to it being an unstable universe so some of his other admirable acts he did may or may not be counted due how wonky it is.
- While the events of Robotmasters are canon to the continuity, is unknown if the Manga or 3D Anime is canon since it wasn't specified which one or if both are canon.
What Makes Him Admirable?[]
In General[]
- His history of the G1 Cartoon up to Season 3 is about the same where the Rebirth is ignored and branches off with extra stories after and in between events.
- While some of his Admirable Acts that were from pragmatic reasons such as stopping Starscream from blowing up the Earth or stopping the Combaticons from sending the Earth into the Sun since he fully redeems himself unlike his American Cartoon counterpart meaning they are now considered genuine acts of heroism.
- While he did do some violent and destructive acts in Legends, they were all Heating-Up Periods since he was mind controlled or influenced by Mindwipe and Devil Z for example while feeling remorse for those outbursts.
Transformers[]
- He laid down arms and ended the war after his friend Kiloton convinced him to stop and formed the Cybertronian Alliance to strive for a better future.
- While he did dissolve it and start the G2 Wars, it was due to Kiloton being killed by Russian soldiers and did it out of selfless reasons to protect his Decepticons. He would reform it by the end of Legends.
- Even in the final G2 manga tie-in after losing to a duel with Optimus like in Heavy Metal War but unlike that instance he didn't cheat and kept his word. He only resumed when a dimension hopping Galvatron II entered the timeline and resumed the war with Megatron as his lackey.
- In the Legends Manga he goes through many reformations:
- While he did initially try to conquer the Legends World he eventually dropped that idea and swore to protect it and make peace in it becoming mayor of Neo Akihabara and protecting the Legend World inhabitants from danger against rouge Decepticons and other evils such as fending off Weirdwolf's Decepticon faction to protect Akihabara or punishing Scourge and the Sweeps to deliver Christmas presents as Santa Claus. He even issued an order of evacuation of the world when Devil Z put a bomb ended destroying the world and everyone was evacuated in time.
- When Devil Z took over the Tekura-Co comlany and began mistreating his men he stand up to the energy entity by scolding him for using fear to control his men not working as he learned from it.
- When a dimension patrol on the books Skids attempted to arrest him and ended up placing the many Legend World inhabitants in danger he shielded himself while nearly dying from it and revived as a smaller Headmaster robot.
- When a second Dark Nova appear and forcefully merged with him to become Star Giant he allowed himself to be killed by Dia Atlas.
- When he was revived, he reformed the Cybertronian Alliance and ending the Great War once and for all striving to build a better future like putting astop to the rouge Decepticon Scrash's evil schemes once and for all.
- In Generations Selects he help the Selects strive to be treated equally by the humans and convinced Optimus Prime to help out by using his motto "Freedom is the Right of all Sentient Beings" to persuade him and the Autobots to help.
- He helps hold off Abominus when the Terrorcons betrayed the Decepticons and joined the Quintessons.
- He would later help the 2010 Optimus Prime in stopping his past self, Gold Megatron, from destroying and recreating the Multiverse in his own image.
- He would later help and join the Primus Vanguard in defending the Predecessor World.
- He sheds all of his corrupting qualities and fully redeemed himself.
What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]
- While Megatron did redeem himself and shed all of his corrupting qualities by the events of Legends and Generations Selects, he committed WAY TOO MANY heinous crimes before then to the point that it is very much impossible for him to completely make up for them to make him be PG or NPG. For example:
- He was responsible for the Great War and has a very high kill count on his hands.
- He committed the exact same crimes in the G1 Cartoon up to Season 3 like his American counterpart due to it being canon as the began and originally started off as an Japanese Dub of it before splitting off into it’s own continuity so his acts in it such as almost destroying the Earth in "The Ultimate Doom" also happen to his version as well plus his many more extra crimes in many manga and story pages tie-ins of his schemes attempting to conquer the Earth and universe as well.
- He enslaved multiple races from many worlds in the Japanese Continuity such as the Beastformers.
- He tried to take over the Legends World before giving up and changing himself.
- He restarted the Great War and dissolved the Cybertronian Alliance in G2 but he undid it in by the end of Legends and was only because his friend Kiloton got killed by Russian Soldiers and did it to protect his Decepticons making that act caused by a Freudian Excuse.
- He didn't feel remorse for all of his previous crimes just some of them. He also didn't feel remorse for abusing some of his minions such as Starscream to name one example.
- He also left the secret message in the Golden Disk which Beast Wars Megatron would find and kickstart the events of Beast Wars and Beast Machines since its events are canon making him indirectly responsible but however it is likely unintentionally heinous since he likely forgot about that.
- He ends up driving humanity away from Earth due his destructive rampage as Megatron: Omega Perfect which would make inhabitable for humans to live on and while he was influenced by Unicron's energy and was cleansed by Lio Convoy while also showing remorse for it, this act is way too severe to brush off. This act would have consequences which would later kickstart the events of Beast Wars II and Beast Wars Neo.
Trivia[]
- Megatron is one of the few Inconsistently Admirable to be Wholly Reformed but can't be PG or NPG due to his crimes prior to his redemption being too severe.
- His American G1 Cartoon version isn't Inconsistently Admirable and is thus Pure Evil as his most of his admirable acts were done out of pragmatism while those that aren't failed to pass its Admirable Standards and he never redeemed himself for the better.
- He is the first version of Megatron to be Inconsistently Admirable and redeem himself with the IDW Comics, Peter David, Cyberverse, Unicron Trilogy, and Transformers One iterations coming after him, although One Megatron ends up becoming a Fallen Hero for his instance. However, that said, Megatron was mostly absent from the Japanese Continuity after his death in Headmasters as Galvatron and most of his later story where he redeemed himself where comes from manga released much after IDW Comics where his adventures in the Legends World and Selects taken decades after the events of the last G2 story was published, though his brief redemption instance in the Cybertronain Alliance in G2 does count though before it was reignited.
- This one, IDW, Cyberverse, and One Megatrons are also the the only versions of Megatron to be both Inconsistently Heinous & Admirable.
