Marisa Kirisame is the deuteragonist of the Touhou Project franchise.
She is a human magician living in the Forest of Magic, where she owns a Kirisame Magic Shop. She is a hard worker who trained herself in magic that specializes in light and heat. She is the best friend and arch-rival of Reimu Hakurei, who are both the most prominent incident resolvers in Gensokylo.

What Makes Her Admirable?[]
In General[]
- As the most prominent and active insident resolvers in Gensokyo, she and Reimu both set the franchise's admirable standard for other characters to follow.
- While Reimu has additional heroism in protecting Great Hakurei Barrier and creating the Spell Card system, Marisa doesn't have the resources needed to perform the aforementioned acts, since she is just a normal human who trains magic entirely through hard working, and managed to be as admirable as Reimu in resolving incidents.
- Despite being an Anti-Hero who mostly do heroic deeds for pragmatic reasons, she does care about Gensokyo and people in it, such as in Subterranean Animism, she says she wants to make the incident worse to spite Alice, but when Satori reads her mind she reveals that she's actually just as concerned about the incident as Alice; in Undefined Fantastic Object, she brings up a point that humans need to be protected from youkai; and in Hopeless Masquerade, she shows deep concern for the people in town when nobody's looking.
- Despite being rather jerkish, she is still very kind and outgoing, tending to befriend everyone she meets even if they are former enemies.

- Despite initially being a evil witch trying to kill Reimu under the order of Mima, after being defeated by Reimu, she redeems herself and becomes Reimu's close friend.

What Makes Her Inconsistent?[]
- She is an antihero; as the majority of incidents she chooses to help out in resolving unlike Reimu, she does so less out of genuine selflessness and more for the sake of being able to loot wherever she's going to solve the situation in questions or because she was bribed into helping by someone else involved (typically Reimu).
- She is an egotistical and arrogant jerk, constantly boasting about herself and insulting others, even if it is mostly played for laughs.
- While she redeemed herself as a witch, she is a well-known thief who will do just about anything to get her hands on any sort of precious artifact while denying the idea that she's even stealing at all.

- Marisa is the only Inconsistently Admirable character from Touhou to be a human.
