Maria Akeboshi formally Mari Nagare is the main protagonist of Maria no Danzai manga series.
She was the mother of Kiritaka Nagare and ex-wife of Taiichirou Nagare. After Kiritaka got killed by his bullies when he got hit by a truck she fell into despair and tried to seek revenge on those who bullied her son.

What Makes Her Admirable?[]
In General[]
- She truly cared for her late son Kiritaka Nagare deeply saddened and broken by his death wishing to bring his death to justice.
- She is genuinely kind to those who are innocent or in need of her help, only saving her wrath for the bullies who caused her son's death. The only exceptions she did target anyone that isn't the bullies is if it out of pragmatism like she did with Iijima or out of self defense like with hitmen and mafia members even then she still never harmed anyone innocent.
- Though she is prone to using her body to get information, she is doing this all for her plan to put an end to Okaya and his gang, making this not truly corrupting due to it being too pragmatic.
- Due to the work having non-existent admirable standards, she only needs to compete with Taiichirou Nagare and she stands out by default.
Maria No Danzai[]
- She divorced her husband to protect him from getting caught in the crossfire of her revenge, and to protect him from Okaya and his fellow bullies.
- It is shown that deep down she does still love her husband and all of her actions are specifically to enact her revenge on her son's bullies while keeping her family safe.
- While violent and gruesome, she put an end to each of the bullies' harm, based on what they did to her son Kiritaka Nagare.
- She would never take any pleasure in her punishments, and explicitly pointed out that she was unable to "mimic their smiles" upon inflicting harm on the bullies.
- She would make her punishments as fair as possible according to the harm each bully inflicted.
- She would even give a chance to each bully to repent for what they did, only deciding to kill them if they did not express any regret. The only exception for this was Kinugawa, though this is understandable as he was the most physically brutal of the five.
- When Yajima was bullied by Tsubasa Kowase, she would stop him from bullying her at a school.
- She took in Yuda to protect him from Okaya and his gang, and would allow him to become her accomplice as a hacker. She would also train him in housework, which resulted in him becoming a good cook and a more responsible person.
- When a bomb was placed in the school, she abandoned her vengeance to stop it not wanting to risk peoples lives.
- While it was later revealed to be a dud it still placed people in danger however.
- She and ex-husband Taiichirou Nagare would fight against yakuza members when they were targeted.
What Makes Her Inconsistent?[]
- She is mostly an On & Off Anti-Villainess being depicted as a vengeful serial killer and an extremist by the narrative.
- She was willing to kidnap others and take advantage of their lust, such as what she did to Iijima, keeping him tied to a post on a bed for days and performing bondage to get information from him.
- That being said, she does only bear ill will to those who contributed to her son's death or out of self-defense, and is genuinely kind toward all others. But, the fact that she spends most of her screentime as a vengeful murderer makes her too lethal.
- While the bullies deserved it for their crimes, she still brutally killed them making her super lethal. Even though she stated she took no pleasure in this, it is still too corrupting for NPG.
- This is especially prevalent in her method of killing Kinugawa, as she sliced him through his groin with a chainsaw, which is far too lethal for NPG.
- She can be cold and brash toward others occasionally, such as Yuda when telling him he was a nuisance after he killed Yuda, though this is understandable as she is trying to take down a group of bullies, and she later took him in.
Trivia[]
- While she may be Inconsistently Admirable now, it may be possible for her to shed her her lethality later on to qualify as a full-on hero and be possibly be Near Pure Good.
