Man "Manny" Heffley is the secondary antagonist of the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series.
He is the toddler-aged younger brother of Greg and Rodrick Heffley, often using his young age to get by in life via manipulating his parents, Frank and Susan Heffley.
His Good Ranking[]
What Makes Him Admirable?[]
- He helps Rodrick sell chocolates door-to-door just to be nice, which old folks find to be endearing.
- He helps Greg shovel the driveway.
- He goes into the family's RV when it crashed into the lake and uses it as a bridge to save dozens of people during the flood. He also puts his whole life at risk just to do this.
- He noticeably stopped being a spoiled brat in the later books, as he helped Greg Heffley with his chores in The Meltdown and hasn't shown any antagonistic acts since.
What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]
- He is way too jerkish and will often inconvenience his family for his own gain. Manny is often seen demanding high-end treatment from his family, knowing his parents will get him whatever he wants, otherwise throwing a tantrum. He mistreats his brothers (especially Greg) for little to no reason, knowing his parents will do nothing and take his side.
- He is too impaired as he is only three years old and lacks the cognitive ability to comprehend right and wrong let alone compartmentalize it consistently in addition to having a very basic understanding of life which rationalizes his focus on immediate gratification in lieu of broader consequences. Being spoiled and over-indulged by his parents impedes his ability to make ethical decisions further still. His academic intelligence is contrary to his social and emotional intelligence, however, so this isn't too mitigating.
- He is extremely mischievous as he enjoys pranking others.
- He is lethal, as he knocked out the electricity and lights in the house while stealing almost all of the supplies like food, water, and a space heater, which severely endangered his family's lives while hogging all of the electricity in his room. There is no indication he was too little to know this would result in triple fatalities.
- Despite being amoral to a limited degree, he seems to have somewhat of a dark and sadistic personality for his age as his drawings often depict people dying and scary monsters, something that Greg thinks makes him unnerving.
- He is too perverted for NPG since he ran around the house nude in front of everybody and showed his heinie in front of Rowley for no reason.
Trivia[]
- He is the only Diary of a Wimpy Kid character to ever be on this wiki, as every other character in the franchise is completely bog-standard in both admirable and heinous acts given the slice-of-life setting, despite being very inconsistent because of his natural moral ignorance and cartoonishly extreme pettiness. The only other characters to cross the heinous baseline alternatively, are Medusa and Mekh, who both come from fictional fictional settings from Rowley's books.
- Manny only counts in the books as in the movies, he is not even considered a hero, but instead a neutral character as he never saves his family or does any other deeds. This is because his sole heroic moment takes place in The Deep End, which has not been adapted into a film.
- In the original script, he was going to threaten his father by saying "Tingy says you're going to have an accident" when Frank called his Tingy an accident, which would only make him even more inconsistent due to his implied lethality.
- He, alongside Grogu and Jack-Jack Parr, is a unique case of an IA candidate who mainly qualifies because he crossed his Goodness Zone at an extremely young age, too young an age to have more than a basic understanding of life in general, let alone the nuances of human ethics.
