~ Manny when he breaks Greg's games |
Man "Manny" Heffley is a major character in the Diary of a Wimpy Kid book series by Jeff Kinney. He is the toddler-aged younger brother of Greg and Rodrick Heffley, often using his young age to get by in life via manipulating his parents, Frank and Susan Heffley.
His Good Ranking[]
What Makes Him Admirable?[]
- In The Deep End, he went into the family's RV when it crashed into the lake and used it as a bridge to save dozens of people during the flood. He also put his whole life at risk just to do this.
- He noticeably stopped being a spoiled brat in the later books, as he helped Greg Heffley shovel the driveway in The Meltdown and hasn't shown any antagonistic acts since.
- He is well intentioned in the later books.
What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]
- He is on & off, often having an antagonistic role in the story, mainly towards Greg and sometimes others.
- He is extremely mischievous as he enjoys pranking others.
- He is very spoiled and jerkish, often demanding high-end treatment from his family, knowing his parents will get him whatever he wants, otherwise throwing a tantrum, and being very often a jerk to his brothers (especially Greg) for little to no reason, knowing his parents will do nothing and take his side.
- In addition to being a spoiled brat, he will also often inconvenience his family for his own gain, especially when he knocked out the electricity and lights in the house while stealing almost all of the supplies like food, water and a space heater, which nearly let his family starve and freeze to death while hogging all of the electricity in his room. He did all of this for the petty reason nobody taught him how to tie his shoes. He was likely at least somewhat, if not fully aware that this act could have murdered his entire family, yet never got punished and showed no remorse for his actions.
- He seems to have somewhat of a dark and sadistic personality for his age as his drawings often depict people dying and scary monsters, something that Greg thinks makes him unnerving.
- Like Greg, he seems to be asocial and seems to view himself as superior to his other classmates, leading him to have few to no friends.
Trivia[]
- He is the only Diary of a Wimpy Kid character to ever be on this wiki, as every other character in the franchise is completely bog-standard in both admirable and heinous acts given the slice-of-life setting. The only other characters to cross the heinous baseline alternatively, are Medusa and Mekh, who both come from fictional fictional settings from Rowley's books.
- Manny only counts in the books as in the movies, he is not even considered a hero, but instead a neutral character as he never saves his family or does any other deeds. This is because his sole heroic moment takes place in The Deep End, which has not been adapted into a film.
- In the original script, he was going to threaten his father by saying "Tingy says you're going to have an accident" when Frank called his Tingy an accident, which would only make him even more inconsistent due to his implied lethality.
