Maki Harukawa is one of the main characters of New Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony, a participant of the Killing School Semester, and the tritagonist of the game.
Maki had the title Ultimate Child Caregiver (Super High School Level Nursery School Teacher/Super High School Level Caregiver). She got this title from taking care of the children she lived with in the orphanage she grew up in. Later is it revealed that this was a front for her true title, the Ultimate Assassin.
She is voiced by Maaya Sakamoto in the Japanese version of the game, and by Erica Mendez in the English version.

- Like all other students of the 53rd killing game, enjoyed the suffering of previous killing games, and applied to the recent killing game to kill everyone else and win, however the actual truth in this is vague, as this relies on Tsumugi's claim of the killing game being fiction to be true, which is dependent on what you think of the ending.
What Makes Her Admirable?[]
- Despite hating children, she claimed to be a child caregiver via her acting as an "older sister" to the other kids in the orpanage she lived in and caring for them.
- Becoming an assassin so her orphanage could receive the funds it needed to continue functioning from the assassin group, and to prevent her best friend from being scouted by said group to save her from experiencing all the torture and burden of killing others Maki herself had to go through.
- After being revealed as the Ultimate Assassin, she befriends Kaito Momota and Shuichi Saihara, even helping the latter in solving chapter 3's murder. Even being the main investigator behind Tenko Chabashira's murder alongside Shuichi.
- She lies with Shuichi to properly progress through the trial of the aforementioned third case, as if she didn't lie, the killer would've likely gotten away with the murders of Tenko and Angie.
- She helps investigate chapter 4's murder, and helps the students figure out who was the killer.
- In chapter 5, she tries to save Kaito from Kokichi Oma, trying to give him the antidote after accidentally poisoning him with an arrow intended for Kokichi.
- She tries to prevent Kaito's execution by attempting to the blame for Kokichi's murder, despite it already being proven that it wasn't her and that Kaito was dead.
- She helps investigate the truth of the killing game along with the remaining survivors, which would've ended the suffering of it.
- She attempts to sacrifice herself to not only end the killing game, but keep save Himiko and Shuichi.
- She breaks free from the despair of learning the truth behind her and the other students' circumstances, and helps Shuichi, Kiibo and Himiko defeat Tsumugi, the true mastermind of the killing game.
What Makes Her Inconsistent?[]
- Despite having her reasons, she has killed countless people (assuming what Tsumugi told the students about their pasts wasn't true) to the point where she became cold and callous towards others. And while she does come out of her shell and soften up towards the other students later on, she still intended to continue her job as an assassin once she left the academy, and it's unknown if she did so after escaping along with Shuichi and Himiko.
- She attempted to kill Kokichi in a last attempt to hide her true identity from the others.
- During the 1st trial, she pushed the blame on Kaede and afterwards she would be executed for that, and unlike the rest of the class, Maki was one of the few people who didn't felt bad for her death. However in the final trial, when it was revealed that Tsumugi killed Rantaro and Kaede was framed, she felt regret for her death and also for disliking her, making it a minor prevention.
- She strangles Kokichi Oma in chapter 5 after he messed around with her and the other students.
- During her attempt to rescue Kaito, she broke into the existal hanger and shot Kokichi with a poisonous dart, even nearly causing the death of Kaito himself in the process, believing the entire class trial afterwards that she was the one who killed him.
- By pretending that she wasn't the murderer, she planned to have the entirety of the remaining students killed in the 5th class trial along with herself so she could have Kokichi killed at the end.
