| ~ Macaque's redemption as he talks to MK before facing the Lady Bone Demon. |
The Six-Eared Macaque is a major character in the LEGO Monkie Kid animated series, based on the classical epic chinese novel Journey to the West, serving as a major antagonist in seasons 1-3, and a major protagonist in subsequent seasons.
He is a mythical monkey who met the legendary Monkey King, Sun Wukong himself, when he was yet nothing but a normal monkey living in Flower Fruit Mountain. Having been best friends with him for most of their life, even becoming sworn brothers under the freedom fighters group known as the Brotherhood, Monkey King's imprisonment and rude rejections of Macaque's attempts to help drove a wedge betweem them, utimately leading to Wukong killing Macaque in battle. Ressurected by a mysterious demon, Macaque became Sun Wukong's rival, determined to destroy the life of his former best friend at all costs. This quest for revenge leads to him meeting MK, Monkey King's chosen successor, and developing a bond with the boy. Overtime, he let go of his bitterness and decided to help the Monkie Kids in their endeavors, determined to start anew his relationship with Wukong.
He was voiced by the late Billy Kametz in seaons 1 to 3, and by Alejandro Saab in seasons 4 and 5.
His Good Ranking[]
What Makes Him Admirable?[]
- He was one of the most noble members of the Brotherhood back in their day, meaning his attempts to subvert the Celestial Realm's rule were rooted in genuine good intentions.
- Didn't partake in the creation of Camel Ridge, that involved draining everything around it off its life force.
- He attempted to comfort and help Wukong when he was trapped by the Celestial Realm, bringing him a peach, only to be brutally cast out.
- With it being implied the Lady Bone Demon gave him the Skeleton Key to free her after he was ressurected by her, Macaque chose not to, knowing of the danger LBD's freeing.
- After MK managed to get through him with his recontextualizing of the "hero and warrior" story Macaque told him to symbolize his and Wukong's relationship, he freed MK's friends that he had entrapted, showing himself to be honorable.
- After Lady Bone Demon betrayed the Mayor and captured Mei, Macaque captured the Mayor and brought him to the Monkie Kids, and bound himself on his own, to show he was to be trusted.
- While initially not interested in helping fight against Lady Bone Demon, he was convinced by MK, and played a very important part for being the only one able to fight the possessed Wukong blow for blow.
- When Lady Bone Demon recreated her own body and let her host go, a little girl, from a high height, Macaque quickly moved and saved her from dying.
- Helped empower MK's final mecha blow against LBD by giving back the powers he had stolen from him in their first meeting and his own.
- He appeared to help MK free Wukong from the Scroll.
- Rekindled his past relationship with Wukong partially and forgave him, agreeing to fight the Brotherhood together.
- Played his part in the plan to beat Azure by fighting the Golden Winged Peng alongside Mei, eventually beating them, which made them run away as, in Macaque's own words, "[Peng] was always the most cowardly of the bunch".
- Helped MK and Wukong escape the Celestial Realm with his shadow portals and clones.
- Freed everyone that was being held by the Nine-Headed Demon with his powers, that seemed to paticularly weaken him, allowing them all a fighting chance, and enabling MK to attempt his sacrifice.
What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]
- Despite redeeming himself, Macaque never shows explicit remorse for his crimes during or before his forced allignance with the Lady Bone Demon, such as torturing and blackmailing the Monkie Kids, attempting to kill MK or attacking the palace of the Dragon of the East, putting lots of people in danger. While he has no villainous ambitions, he still never apologized for any of these actions.
- He is often jerkish and blunt when interacting to others, mostly Wukong, being willing to dismiss or making fun of others for little to no reason.
