Lucious Lyon (born Dwight Walker) is the main protagonist of Empire. He is portrayed by Terrence Howard.
His Good Ranking[]
What Makes Him Admirable?[]
- He builds his music production company Empire to provide a better life for his three sons Andre, Jamal and Hakeem.
- Despite how abusive and jerkish he can be towards his ex-wife Cookie and their sons, he loves them deep down.
- He went out of his way to rescue Hakeem when the latter was kidnapped by thugs.
- He saves Cookie from an explosion when he discovered that the car ordered for them has a bomb in it.
What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]
- While Lucious has his redeeming qualities and is ultimately a sympathetic character with a traumatic backstory, he is pretty much an anti-villain for the majority of the series, as he maintains his gangster lifestyle.
- In fact, in the first episode, he murdered his best friend/cousin-in-law Bunkie for being too greedy.
- He is indirectly responsible for Cookie's arrest by the authorities and her doing 17 years for him. His lack of remorse of her imprisonment is evident throughout the series.
- He hires Thirsty Rawlings, a crooked and ruthless Lawyer to do his dirty work for him business wise and to protect him legally at all costs.
- He is rather abusive towards his sons, especially Jamal for his homosexuality.
- He has a huge habit of being quite greedy as he usually ignores people's fair share of his wealth and power in his company such as Cookie and Andre.
- He's an notorious opportunist and backstabber, as he's willing to sacrifice anyone, including his own family to fulfill his own goals.
- He's a dirty businessman public and personal wise, as he's blackmailed, exiled, framed, and even murdered when someone threatens his position in the company.
