~ Light Yagami believing that a traitor is amongst the Jump Force. |
Light Yagami is a major character in the 2019 story mode of the video game Jump Force. He assists the Jump Force in trying to stop Kane and the other villains from destroying the world, and following Prometheus' betrayal, he assumes leader of the Jump Force, becoming the major planner and strategist of the group. He briefly switches to the villains side only to double cross them later on.
He is portrayed by Mamoru Miyano, who voiced his anime counterpart as well as Ling Yao.
His Good Ranking[]
What Makes Him Admirable?[]
- Chooses to join the Jump Force, assisting them in saving the world from Prometheus.
- Unlike the original Light, his actions are not solely pragmatic - Light could just as easily assist the villains to get a cube and let the world be destroyed, but chooses to join the heroes for the majority of the game (Although he briefly switches sides, this is quickly abandoned).
- Correctly identifies a traitor within the Jump Force.
- After the betrayal of Prometheus, Light took leadership of the Jump Force and is the person who comes up with strategies and plans for the player
- He has a major role in the villains defeat, being the man who gives the player the cube needed along with Kane.
- Unlike the original Light, this version of Light is genuinely affable - his ego is not nearly as apparent, as he shows respect towards the other heroes and he chooses to help the heroes out of a genuine desire to save the world.
- When he catches Angela and Sanji, he exposes them as the traitors and assists the heroes in defeating them.
What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]
- Light plays both sides throughout the game, as he chooses to 'align' with Kane before Kane was reformed while leaving the heroes in the dark about this. While he later double crosses the villains, it still shows Light isn't as committed to the heroes as he makes out.
- He has ultimately committed the same crimes as canon Light, and his suit suggests this is a Light post timeskip - meaning he has already crossed multiple moral event horizons, including killing thousands of criminals as well as multiple innocent FBI Agents.
- His main goal is to acquire a cube to get his Death Note power back - this suggests that while Light is genuinely saving the world, he still has a hunger for power even in this universe.
- Furthermore, he chuckles to himself when gaining the cube, suggesting he has a darker plan for using it.
Trivia[]
- Is one of two versions of Light Yagami with all of his memories intact to be considered Inconsistently Admirable, as Light's canon page is based on a Light with no memories of being Kira. The other is from the TV Drama.
- The ending of the Jump Force game has left fans speculating whether Light could become the main villain of the next Jump Force game, although this is unlikely considering how weak the Death Note's power would be in that universe.
