Kowalski is a minor character of Madagascar, a supporting character of Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa and Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted, one of the four main protagonists of Penguins of Madagascar: The Movie and one of the two tritagonists (alongside Rico) of The Penguins of Madagascar TV series.
He is voiced by Chris Miller in the movies and games, and Jeff Bennett in the series.

What Makes Him Admirable?[]
- He's the answer man to Skipper always coming up with an analysis to his plans for their survival, and is loyal to him as the leader.
- Despite Skipper babying Private around. He's the only one of the penguin team to treat Private with some decency not babying him around.
- Helped rescue Private from Mr. Chu about to eat him in the Madagascar: Penguins Christmas Caper special alongside Skipper, and Rico.
- Aided in stopping many threats in the Penguins Of Madagascar tv show.
- Helped Skipper in turning the ship around to go to Antarctica.
- Fought off the fossas to save Marty, Gloria, and Melman alongside his brothers.
- Warned Skipper about the plane being out of fuel flying the zoosters back to New York City, and then having to land the plane.
- Isn't as lethal as Skipper is when it comes to their survival attacking innocents like when he helped Skipper steal the tour Jeep's to fix the damaged plane.
- Attempted in saving Alex, and his dad Zuba alongside Skipper, and Rico from Nana holding a gun in the newly built plane by the chimpanzees.
- Helped with escaping from Chantel DuBois in the vehicle hunting down the animals.
- Alongside his brothers took down Chantel Dubois, and her men breaking into the circus to kill Alex The Lion, and put his head on her wall.
- With his brothers saved Alex, Marty, Gloria, and Melman from Chantel Dubois as the, and her team of animal control officers ending her animal killing spree once, and for all as the afro circus rescue.
- Attempted to get away alongside Skipper, Rico, and Private from the few octopi that were chasing them after escaping from Dave The Octopus stealing the serum for his revenge plan.
- Teamed up with The Northwind with rescue Private from Dave, and his army of octopi.
- When The Northwind had majority of votes for their plan to rescue Private, and the missing penguins. He still voted for Skipper's plan as their leader.
- Was very heartbroken when he Skipper, and Rico thought Private got disintegrated.
- Helped fight off the octopi to the best of his ability as a monster penguin with snake arms.
- Congratulated Private on saving penguin kind with his cuteness, and becoming a valuable member of the penguin team.
What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]
- He was willing to endanger his friends by putting nuclear reactor into the vehicle with no brakes, and showed no remorse for it, even if he had told Skipper that it still had to be worked on with him pressing the button to activate it as well as him smiling afterwards going at high speed to get away from Chantel DuBois.
- Can have some arrogant, and cocky moments throughout the series being a bit too focused on his work not wanting to listen to the others at times.
- When Private just hatched out of the egg. He told him he didn't have a family, and that they were all going to die, which was unsettling for him to say, despite it being in a comical way.

- Him, and Skipper are the two Madagascar heroes to be IA.
- He was once NPG, until he was removed because of putting a nuclear reactor into a vehicle with no brakes, and showed no remorse for it, despite Skipper recklessly pressing the button to activate it after being warned not to making it too much of a corrupting factor for him to qualify.
