Kotaro Minami is the titular main protagonist of the 2022 Prime Video Web-Series Kamen Rider Black Sun. He is the close friend of Nobuhiko Akizuki who alongside him transformed into a Kaijin.
He is a man who joined the Kaijin movement group known as Gorgom for equal rights for Kaijin to live in peace with humans. However, after Gorgom split into 2 factions (splinter and pro-government/Gorgom Party) and lost Nobuhiko after he was imprisoned for 50 years by Gorgom Party and the government, Kotaro isolated himself in an abandoned bus to hide himself from the harsh reality of the discrimination of Kaijins. In 2022, during his isolation, Kotaro meets Aoi Izumi and he protects her from all the evil that threatens her and he evolves into Kamen Rider Black Sun to face stronger opponents.

What Make Him Admirable?[]
- Kotaro alongside his comrades (Nobuhiko, Koumori, Darom, Baraom, Bishum, Yukari Shinjo, Oliver Johnson, and Bilgenia) established Gorgom in order for Kaijins to get rights for living alongside humans.
- After being told by Yukari to slay the Creation King for the sake of the good of Kaijins, Kotaro is agree with her decision to kill the Creation King to prevent more suffering and discrimination.
- Even after Gorgom absorbed by the government and him losing to his first against the Creation King, he still holds some of Yukari's ideals in creating the world of equality for humans and Kaijins to coexist.
- When he is ordered to assassinate Aoi Izumi in exchange for Ketamine to cure his cripple right leg, Kotaro abandoned his assassination order and instead he saves her from Kumo after seeing the red Kingstone in her necklace.
- He vows to protect Aoi from any dangers and threats and he also allows her to live with him.
- After the death of Aoi's guardian and biological parents, Kotaro is determine to be her father figure and gives her affection and compassion as well as her emotional support.
- When he with Aoi, he promised to protect her as long as he together with Aoi.
- During his time with Aoi, he teaches her martial arts and how to fight properly in order for her to defend herself from any threats.
- He saved Aoi from being get further torture and psychological abuse by Bilgenia after she being mutated into Mantis Kaijin.
- He alongside other Gorgom rebels (including Nobuhiko and Shunsuke) invade Gorgom Party HQ to save Aoi and to prevent Gorgom and by extention the government from doing any crimes regarding human experiments and selling Kaijins to the black market.
- In Gorgom Party HQ, when he found Aoi, he hugs her and encourages her to keep living.
- After he successfuly saved Aoi from Gorgom Party, he fights and kills the Creation King, resulting the government and Gorgom Party to have little or no chance in producing more Heat Heaven and turning innocent humans into a Kaijin.
- When he gets cured from his injuries in the battle against the Creation King and Nobuhiko/Shadowmoon, he vowed to save many innocent humans from Nobuhiko that currently leading Gorgom Party and holds Kaijin supremacy ideology in subjugating humans including the innocent ones.
- Kotaro manages to stop Nobuhiko from his evil deeds against humans and subdues him in the process.
- After he defeated Nobuhiko, he warns Nobuhiko that Kaijins are human because Kotaro believes that there are no significant differences between humans and Kaijins, as well as he also believes that the world of equality and coexistence that Yukari dreamed really does exist and come true.
- When he accidently merged with the heart of the Creation King and become the next Creation King, he begs Aoi to kill him in order for the remaining Kaijins to live their natural lifespan and die peacefully without the existence of the Creation King.
What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]
- Despite his compassionate nature, Kotaro is somehow acts jerky towards other such as mocking a kidnapped young Shinichi Dounami in 1972.
- He offered a request of killing Aoi Izumi for him to get a Ketamine had he not seen a red Kingstone in Aoi's necklace.
- Kotaro is a Ketamine user who will injected himself with it any times he wants to cure his cripple right leg without any medical directions, thus making him a drug addict.
- Kotaro is a lethal that he sometimes using a violent way of fighting such as ripping Kumo's intestine, cutting Bilgenia's left hand, and rips the Creation King's heart.
