His Good Ranking[]
What Makes Him Admirable?[]
- When Rantaro was killed, he cried when he found his dead body, but it's possible it was real instead of fake.
- When Kaede turned out to be the first culprit, he was shocked for a moment as he pointed out how bad it was that the one who talked about cooperation and unity then went and killed someone in cold blood.
- He was incredibly impressed with Ryoma's knack for gambling, beating Kaito every time.
- Before Kaede gets executed, he said that he is pissed off at himself and that he felt useless in stopping Kaede from killing Rantaro, but when Shuichi stated that he’s lying, he agrees.
- This happened the second time when Ryoma died. He yells at the group with tears in his eyes telling them to apologize and while Korekiyo said that he’s doing a great job pretending to care and Ouma plays along, it’s possible that he is actually telling the truth and only lied to cover up his true feelings.
- When deciding to not talk about the motive videos, he suggests the group should share the motive videos with everyone so nobody’s hiding secrets, and if some rivalries or dangerous secrets are out, they’d be able to handle it and talk it out as a group.
- When Shuichi asked Kokichi if he told Ryoma about the motive video, he stayed silent and didn’t answer the question, possibly hinting that he felt remorse for telling Ryoma about the motive video.
- Exposes Maki for lying to everyone about hiding her talent and revealing that she is an assassin and he had multiple reasons for doing this:
- Since he hates murderers and liars, Maki is both of those and she also attempts to strangle him because he knew what she was hiding.
- To warn the group that there was a murderer among them which is a huge favour for the group, as if they had found out any later, they’d likely get scared of Maki immediately and feel betrayed so it was justifiable to call her out the moment he learned.
- To avenge Ryoma as he’s biased and doesn’t care for Maki’s motives or even intentions of letting Ryoma die but exposing Kirumi and Maki who killed Ryoma nonetheless was the only way to avenge his death.
- To summarize it Kokichi was right in the second chapter, if not a little forceful with his suggestions and being biased against Maki, he helped the group a lot and tried his best to make Ryoma’s death not go in vain.
- When Angie makes her cult, he is one of the main offenders of people against it and when the students receive the remembering light, he is disappointed with the group for believing it.
- While he was against the student council Angie made, he did feel bad for her.
- Though he did lie about him killing Angie, he only did it to draw out the culprit to pin it on.
- When Himiko said that Tenko’s death is not meaningless and whined about how nobody cared for her, he confronts her and states that she didn’t care for Tenko until she died and doesn’t appreciate what she had until it’s gone, making a valid point.
- After the end of the trial, he confessed that Himiko is lying and calls her out for it. He claims that she didn’t care for Tenko prior to her death, which Himiko herself realizes. He also then tells her to stop running away from her emotions, otherwise she can never change, which causes Himiko to show her emotions making him and Tenko the reason why Himiko became confident and stopped holding back.
- While he did get mad at Gonta for not proving his innocence, when he realized that Gonta didn’t remember the virtual world because he switched the memory chords, he felt remorse for yelling at Gonta who doesn't remember anything.
- He begs to be executed along with Gonta, but Gonta refuses the proposal.
- Cries during Gonta’s execution only to cover it up by his villain persona.
- Even after being neglected by everyone and Maki trying to kill him, he still never gave up on ending the killing game.
- Gives Kaito and the group Electro hammers and bombs to help them get past the Death Road of Despair.
- While he did cause his classmates to fall into despair after revealing himself to be the mastermind, this was to only keep them safe and only faked being the mastermind to stop them from continuing the killing game.
- After Maki dropped the antidote at the window for Kaito to get it, he snatched it from him and pretended to drink it in front of Maki and Kaito and after Maki left, he gave the antidote to Kaitio to stop him from dying.
- Teamed up with Kaito to make an unsolvable murder in an attempt to end the killing game by sacrifcing his own life instead of Kaito.
- It is revealed that despite seeming to like the killing game, he is shown to hate it on the inside for loathing the idea of a killing game that takes sick pleasure toying with people's lives, which was revealed in the end.
- While the flashback light said that he was the Remnant of Despair, this turned out to be false since Kokichi is only a guy who would never hurt anyone and despises killing people.
- Even when he died, his legacy lives on as he left behind evidence to help the students end the killing game if he failed.
- He left suicide notes for the group, which Saihara found, to open the safe in Rantaro’s talent room.
- The rocks that he carved weren't to build himself up as the mastermind, but a decoded message to unlock Amami’s safe in his talent room so the group can find valuable information.
- Left his motive video in his room so that Shuichi could prove that the flashback lights are fake to Tsumugi in the trial once she’s exposed.
- To sum it all up, everyone ended the killing game because of him leaving behind evidence that leads to Rantaro’s mystery being solved from the safe, and the lab itself.
What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]
- He can be an arrogant and smug jerk, and has many moments where he mocks and insults his classmates. For example, he picks on K1-B0, often annoying him with “robophobic” remarks, and slut shames Miu on a regular basis. His jerk moments are too much for NPG.
- He lied to Gonta about the students hating bugs to make everyone see the motive videos in Gonta's lab.
- He manipulated Gonta into murdering Miu in Chapter 4, which leads to Gonta becoming an unwilling culprit.
