NOTE: This page only gives information about Knuckles the Echidna from the Live-Action series, as his mainstream incarnation is voted Near Pure Good, thus only the information of the Live-Action incarnation of Knuckles appears here. His Sonic Boom counterpart is also voted Inconsistently Admirable, meaning he has a page found here.

Do I look like I need your power?
~ Knuckles' most famous quote.
You're unskilled, untrained, and… unworthy!
~ Knuckles underestimating Sonic the Hedgehog.
Porcupine? I am an echidna. Trained since birth in all forms of lethal combat, destined to restore honor to my tribe and willing to destroy anything that gets in my way.
~ Knuckles meeting Agent Stone.

Knuckles the Echidna is one of the two tritagonists (alongside Maddie Wachowski) of the Sonic Cinematic Universe.

He is the extra-terrestrial red echidna who is formerly the ally of Dr. Ivo Robotnik, whom were both searching for the Master Emerald, and each have been pursuing Sonic and Tails, until the doctor betrayed him and left him for dead until Sonic attempted to save him from drowning. He then joins forces with his former enemies to defeat Robotnik. He was among the members of the Echidna Tribe, which were wiped out in a war against the owl tribe and he lost his father in the skirmish while Sonic coincidentally lost Longclaw in the same battle.

He is voiced by Idris Elba, who also played Bloodsport in the DC Extended Universe.

His Good Ranking[]

What Makes Him Admirable?[]

In General[]

  • He genuinely cared for his father and the rest of the Echidna Tribe, as their deaths left a big impact on him. Additionally, most of Knuckles' actions throughout the series stem from wishing to avenge them and honor their legacy.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2[]

  • He redeemed himself the moment Dr. Robotnik betrays him and takes the Master Emerald for himself to enslave the world and makes it up and puts aside his differences and makes peace with Sonic and Tails.
  • He and Tails managed to distract Dr. Robotnik from within and Knuckles separates the Master Emerald from him, contributing to turning the tides in favor of his new allies.
  • When he sees that Sonic was trying to save him from drowning, he returns the favor and saves him from drowning as well when he realizes Sonic can't swim. It shows that Knuckles has a strong sense of honor.
  • He has saved multiple people and assists in stopping Dr. Robotnik from conquering the universe, along with Sonic and Tails.
  • He prevented Tom and Maddie from embracing Super Sonic, believing that the hedgehog had been driven mad with power, although it was soon confirmed this wasn't the case. Although, Sonic claims that they "would have blown up" had they hugged him before he de-powered, meaning that Knuckles did basically protect them.

Knuckles[]

  • When he believes the house is under attack, he tries to fight off the renovators, only for Maddie to step in and tell him they’re just helping out.
  • He agreed to train Wade Whipple so he could beat his dad in the Tournament of Champions.
  • He showed sympathy to Wade over his father's abandonment of him.
  • He and Wade bonded over their victory.
  • He thanked Wendy for the meal at the Shabbat dinner.
  • He helped save Wendy and Wanda from Agents Willoughby and Mason.
  • He defeated the Buyer and saved Whipple's family.

Sonic the Hedgehog 3[]

  • He entrusted Wade to guard the Master Emerald.
  • He, Tails, Tom, and Maddie celebrate Sonic’s arrival anniversary on Earth.
  • When G.U.N. forces requested the Team for help in Tokyo because of Shadow’s rampage, he and the Team agreed to help.
  • He and the team decided to team up with Robotnik to track the drones at the abandoned G.U.N. facility.
  • He helps the Wachowsik’s and the Team infiltrate the G.U.N. Headquarters in London to stop Gerald and Ivo Robotnik from initiating the Space Colony ARK and destroy the Earth.
  • When Sonic was enraged at Shadow for seriously injuring Tom and when Sonic demanded to know where the Master Emerald was, Knuckles initially refused to, deeming Sonic was in no condition to make rational choices due to him being consumed by anger, but he eventually relents, believing Sonic would never go off the deep end even if he initially used it for ill intentions and was proven right.
    • To keep the team from falling apart, he tells Sonic that the Master Emerald is in Wade's possession.
  • He and Tails save Ivo Robotnik from getting sucked into space and get him to turn the Space Colony ARK away from Earth with help from Sonic and Shadow before it overrides and explodes.
  • He saves Sonic and Tails from dying in space.

What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]

  • Even though he has a tragic past, he shows little to no remorse for the damage he causes, such as destroying the Wachowski's house, a random truck and Wade's car.
  • Though he was misled into thinking that Sonic was his foe, Knuckles is shown to be lethal as he was willing to kill Sonic and he spent a good chunk of the film antagonizing him and Tails prior to Robotnik's betrayal, which makes Knuckles way too lethal to be NPG, especially considering Sonic was never a villain.
  • He can be a jerk at times, most notably when he threatens Tails for ramming him with a car and Maddie for grounding him (only relenting due to Sonic’s intervention), and then later plotting revenge against the latter for it, when it was really his own fault for trying to get Ozzy to fight an innocent mailman, and even imprisoning him at one point.
  • He can be very arrogant and tends to underestimate his foes at times, with his famous “Do I look like I need your power?” line.
  • He is a rather violent person, often wanting to solve his problems by punching and breaking things rather than thinking of solutions outright.
  • He is a rather reckless fighter who can cause moderate destruction, such as when he fought the burglars in the house and when he attacked Unit while he was simply reading a poem to Tails and Sonic.

Trivia[]

  • Unlike Tails, Sonic and Shadow who share their PG, NPG and IA status with their video game counterparts, Knuckles is IA while his video game counterpart is NPG.
