His Good Rankings[]
What Makes Him Admirable?[]
- Led a small force of 300 Spartan warriors, along with several thousand other Greek soldiers, to defend the narrow pass of Thermopylae against the massive Persian army led by King Xerxes.
- Inspired his men through his own courage and leadership, motivating them to fight to the death in defense of their homeland.
- Despite being vastly outnumbered, Leonidas used the terrain of Thermopylae to his advantage, forcing the Persians into a bottleneck where their numbers were less effective.
- Leonidas’ stand at Thermopylae has become a symbol of courage, sacrifice, and defiance against overwhelming odds, inspiring countless generations with his example.
- Bravely defended Sparta for many years.
- Refuses the conquest of Sparta by the king of Persia, Xerxes and his men.
- He fights bravely and mourns those who fell.
- He remained standing even when the enemy's forces overpowered him until finally he was valiantly killed by many archers.
- He is shown with more heroic deeds than the other characters in the series.
What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]
- He is extremely deadly to his enemies and rivals, showing that he has no problem pushing a messenger into a pit and to his death.
- He is depicted as a proud and arrogant leader who is unwilling to back down or compromise in the face of the Persian threat. His pride in his own abilities and the strength of his men can be seen as a corrupting trait that blinds him to the potential consequences of his actions.
- While Leonidas and his Spartans are shown as skilled warriors defending their land, their brutal and violent tactics in battle, including the use of excessive force and aggression, can be seen as corrupting traits that prioritize victory at any cost.
- He underestimated Ephialtes, which caused the latter to become a villain supporting King Xerxes.
Trivia[]
- According to the author, Leonidas' speaker to the public Dilios' is likely not so factual, at a red flag of promoting manipulative propaganda to go at war with Persia, this affects Leonidas' morally, because according to Dilios', he instructed him to tell what happened, and the true story behind Leonidas may have been less morally noble than how Dilios' presented it, especially given the fact that Spartans would kill their infants, had they had some flaws in their physic, making Leonidas' lifestyle on who he is more questionable.
