| “ | Tennyson may have messed up the Ultimatrix, but he's put himself on the line again, again. He's risked his life a hundred times for people he didn't even know, for slobs like me, for jerks like you. He's a hero, and more important... he's my best friend. | „ |
| ~ Kevin expressing his gratitude towards Ben. |
Kevin Ethan Levin is one of the two tritagonists (alongside Max Tennyson) of Cartoon Network's Ben 10 franchise.
Originally, he began as one of the main antagonists in the original series, but the events in between the original series and Alien Force results in Kevin becoming sane. After being free of his mutations, he becomes an important comrade to his former enemies as well as atoning for his previous acts. He also has a relationship with Gwen Tennyson.
He was voiced by Michael Reisz in the episode Kevin 11, Charlie Schlatter for rest of the Original Series and by Greg Cipes in Alien Force, Ultimate Alien and Omniverse.
In the live-action film Alien Swarm, he was portrayed by Nathan Keyes.
His Good Ranking[]
What Makes Him Admirable?[]
In General[]
- After years of being one of Ben's enemies, he joins forces with him and Gwen and ever since then has been redeemed. He always fights by their side now and takes down criminals with them pretty much every day.
- He cares about many people such as his girlfriend Gwen and his former enemy now best friend Ben, as he always hangs out with them regularly and even opens up his feelings to them. He loves Gwen and wants to protect her, and he’s like a big brother to Ben now.
- While Ben might have done more admirable deeds than Kevin, he has far more appearances in both the original show and Omniverse and not to mention wields the Omnitrix, the most powerful weapon in the universe, which means he has far more resources.
Alien Force (Seasons 1 & 2)[]
- He was the only one who realized that Michael Morningstar could not be trusted and ends up saving Gwen from him.
- He, Ben, and Gwen together save the universe from the Highbreed Invasion, while also being the only heroes on Earth that were uncovering the Highbreed conspiracy.
- When Gwen was about to give up her humanity and become a full Anodite in order to defeat the Highbreeds, he begs her not to in fear of her losing her humanity.
Alien Swarm[]
- He held a deal negotiating alien nanochips to keep them out of the wrong hands, letting Ben take the lead in them.
- He and Gwen warned Ben against trusting Elena Validus due to her father's suspicious actions as the nanochip hive. Their concerns would later be proven correct in Ultimate Alien when it's revealed that Elena is the Nanochip Queen herself.
- He and Gwen broke into Ship-It to stop the spreading of the Nanochips, but sadly were too late.
- He built a car for Ben's 16th birthday, though he initially considered keeping it until Ben threatened to destroy it as Humongosaur.
- He along with Ben, Gwen and Elena destroyed the Nanochips and saved the world from their control.
Alien Force (Season 3)[]
- He stopped Ragnarok from stealing the Sun's energy to sell on the black market (which would have endangered Earth's population). While he does leave Ragnarok to be sucked into the Sun, this was justified as Ragnarok was too dangerous to be allowed to live.
- He assists Ben in defeating Vilgax when he stole the Omnitrix from him.
Ultimate Alien[]
- He chews out Argit when he doesn’t care about Andreas getting sacrificed.
- When Aggregor was about to eat a baby Alien X, become omnipotent and rule the entire universe, he sacrifices his sanity to stop him and ends up losing control and being turned into a monster again just like when he was a kid because of it.
- Even when he was Ultimate Kevin, he still loved Gwen and initially stayed away from her to avoid being tempted to drain her magic and kill her, only trying to do just that when he couldn't resist anymore.
- He ultimately got this idea from the ten-year-old Ben, though the fact he was willing to stay away from violence shows how he definitely matured from when he was a child.
- While it's true that he was violent and dangerous towards his friends while he was Ultimate Kevin, it's not completely his fault as he had no control over most of his actions because he was under the influence of the power which was overwhelming him until his friends were able to restore him to sanity in the end.
- After Ben, Gwen, Darkstar and Cooper Daniels turned him back into his normal form and removed all the powers he had absorbed, he thanks his friends for curing him and restoring him to sanity while apologizing to them for his actions. He also reconciles with Ben despite the fact he attempted to kill him earlier during their previous battle. His reconciliation with Ben also led to Ben realizing the error of his ways and let Kevin rejoin his team, showing that the two friends are now on better terms.
- When Ben got trapped in the Ultimatrix, he went all the way over to Azmuth’s planet to get help from him. When Azmuth was refusing to help, Kevin pleaded him and spoke up for Ben, giving a speech about how Ben is a hero and even fought one of Azmuth’s guards for it.
- During their final fight with Vilgax and Dagon, when Vilgax nearly manipulates Ben to give in to Ascalon's power, Kevin, along with Gwen and Julie talk him out of it.
Omniverse[]
- He helps Ben stop Malware from conquering Azmuth’s planet.
- He freed the Amalgam Kids from Servantis's control.
- Saved Zed when she was trapped under a boulder and adopted her.
What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]
- Even nowadays, Kevin has shown to be rude to people sometimes like constantly picking on and annoying Ben and insulting his enemies.
- He can be very greedy, especially with his obsession with money and even still takes weapons from enemies and sells them to a bidder every time a bad guy is taken down.
- As shown in the third episode of Alien Force, he has over 40 speeding tickets presumably for extremely reckless and dangerous driving which could have killed others. When Gwen calls him out on that, he showed no remorse and put his latest ticket inside a whole lot of them.
- He has shown to be pretty violent and lethal as he loves giving villains brutal beatdowns and even smashed Ben over a bunch of buildings with a car when he lost control as Ultimate Humungousaur, and admits he enjoyed it a little.
- In order to get an engine block for his car, he agreed to marry Princess Looma Red Wind but left her at the altar. He never shows remorse for neither this nor pawning her off on Ben, the latter action leading to Looma ransacking the Hot Spot later on. He even has a brief moment of hypocrisy by taking offense at her remark that he wasn’t a suitable husband.
- He stole the Rustbucket and tried to trade it to Vulkanus for a message Max left for Ben, only for Argit to double-cross Kevin by stealing the RV himself. While he had good intentions, that was still a reckless decision since he violated the trust Ben and Gwen just started to have for him and didn't even tell them about the message in the first place.
